National Inter-School Golf Championship 2010
Just got news thru from Sports School student Marc Ong. Today in Round 1 at Marina Bay, the 14 year old Right Sided Swinger recorded an unbelievable round of 67 (5 under par from Blue Tees)
Marc is the defending champion from 2009 and has a 6 stroke lead after day 1. He has recently been selected into the mens national squad as the youngest ever member. Keep an eye out for this boy as he has a very promising future in the game.
It was only 3-4 years ago he was an 18 handicapper. The RSS has taken his game to another level. I am confident he can bring home the trophy tomorrow.
Marc Ong has finished 1st place after a 2nd round 74 today. He won by 5 strokes finishing the 36 holes on 3 under par.
Other Right siders who played well were Lucius Toh who at 12 years old came second in his division with 75 and 79. Jia Yi Lim was 2nd in girls B Division, 3rd was Nadhra Agilah and Dion Lim was 2nd in the girls C Division.
Well done to all who played

Hello Paul,
Tried to google on the RSS system on the net.
Are there any video on how you swing the Driver using the RSS system?

Hi Paul
Can I ask... is the lady golfer in the foreground (one in blue 3/4 pants) swing from her right side? Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Nothing like it mate. More like a reverse pivot. See the pictures below
Opposite set up angles
This causes a different radius and turn
Opposite body shape at top of swing, hers is a reverse pivot/tilt
This causes the poor impact position
Head gets stuck down and legs look different
Not sure who this lady is but for a pro, her impact position is not fantastic

wow..thx Paul. Didn't quite see that..very observant.
I noticed for the example given by you for RSS, I'd noticed thyat in the 4th pic,the bloke broke his left wrist (I guess that he's trying to comnpress the ball). Is that a good practice? I remeber u telling me to keep both wrists solid, thereby retenting the angles for both wrists.
Thanks for clarifying.

Lady in black and white is Michelle Wie, not a Ben Hogan/RSS. She is coached by Leadbetter

Today in the NSRCC Junior Open at Kranji, I witnessed one of the great rounds of golf by a junior. Right sided swinger Nicholas Lim was the winner and defended his title from 2009 with a faultless round of 69 (3 Under). It was truly a ball striking exhibition and if he had holed a few more short putts, a 66 could have been easily achieved
In 2nd position was another RSS Abdul Hadi with a 74, 4th was RSS'er Billie Pay and 6th was RSS'er Princeton Yeo.
In the 12-14 year division,1st and 2nd were RSS'ers Marc Ong and Edgar Oh while Lucius Toh and Leonard Tee came in 7th and 8th.
The RSS'ers claimed 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th in the Girls division with Rachel Lim, Phoebe Tan, Nadhra Aqilha and Cathleen Wong.
Rounds of the week were Leonard Tee who shot a 77 playing off a 15 handicap and M Vickneshwaran who had an 81 from an 18 handicap. These two are new students of the RSS and have made some remarkable progress in a short time. There handicaps will definitely need to be adjusted
It was a rewarding week for Chris and myself and our students who have put in a lot of hard work. Being able to execute the shots under pressure confirms to us that the RSS can withstand the pressures of tournament play
Tomorrow, the Faldo Series commences at Raffles Country Club and we are hoping for some more trophies and improved results

Another Impressive performance at the Faldo Series Singapore Championship. RSS'er Edgar Oh claimed victory with a 36 hole score of 69, 71 (4 under par)
Edgar is 14 years old and won the overall trophy defeating his much older competitors in the under 21 division.
He claimed the Boys overall title in a playoff as well as the Boys 14-16 year division by a margin of 11 shots.
The win gains him entry to the Faldo Series Asia Grand final held in China at Mission Hills.
This performance as a 14 year old is outstanding and I hope he can do Singapore proud in the final.
Well done Edgar

More Impressive results for the Right Siders
Results from HSBC Junior Series 2nd Leg at OCC
2nd Round play was abandoned due to heavy rain so the tournament was reduced to 18 holes.
The right siders claimed 1st and 2nd in both the divisions and 1st in the girls 12-14 division
Boys 15-17 years
1st Nicholas Lim (1 under par) 2nd Ashwin Bahnu (1 over par)
Boys 12-14 years
1st Marc Ong (2 over par) winner on count back 2nd Edgar Oh (2 over par)
Girls 12-14 years
1st Rachel Chaeng
An outstanding series of tournaments with the RSS'ers dominating all events and producing consistent results for all tournaments. Nicholas, Marc and Edgar are leading the way for junior golf in Singapore. The hard work they have put in during training is reaping rewards. A credit to them.
As coaches we are very proud of their results
Well done

Hi Paul Just read through all 15 pages of the thread and watched the videos. Gained a lot of knowledge to reinforce what I have learnt so far about the RSS. I did some lessons while in BKK with Greg McIntosh and my game has improved a lot. I am looking to come to Singapore to do some lessons with you. Will contact you once I have organised the dates and flights Thanks

Greg and I worked together here at OCC before he moved to BKK. A very good coach and RSS instructor. I am not suprised you improved a lot. Glad you learnt from the thread. Look forward to seeing you in Singapore or I would be happy to come to Thailand. I am sure we can come to some arrangement
