Viola! Bro,
May I know what do you mean by "lean forward slightly" ? Thx To lean slightly forward while maintaining the back straight (the weight will be felt on the toe side) rather than a slightly squating position with a more upright back. I think so lah…ha ha

Duval doesn't need the latest equipment, he's game is so good, pple like us need to buy equipment to try and have a decent game.

| the harder you try hitting it, the worst you can imagine. just make sure your set up is correct, take an easy swing without having to force, youll be surprise. yes, train using a 5 wood first before 3. learn from the shortest to the longest. | |

| anyone tried hitting a 3 wood on a slight slope upwards gradient? i realised i couldnt do a full swing, infact i tend to duff the ground before the ball and things end up terribly wrong.
sometimes when i contact it properly on the slope. the ball draws to the left.
should i even try 3 woods on slope or my method of hitting is wrong? either weight distribution or hitting angle etc. thanks.

I once read that you should use your 3W selectively, i.e. when your ball is sitting nicely on a relatively flat piece of fairway, since the 3W swing is to produce more of a sweeping motion, I think that make sense... ...but then again, for 3W on a nice flat fairway is hit and miss for me, so why complicate matters by trying to use a 3W on a uphill lie...

| Consider putting the ball nearer to your right foot when you are playing up slope. Other bros can advise better direction of the ball up or down slope. | |

Common problem. The weight has remained on the right side and not transferred to the left because of the slope, so you hit behind the ball first. Make an conscious effort to shift your weight onto your left side.
sometimes when i contact it properly on the slope. the ball draws to the left.
Upslope or ball above feet - ball draws left Downslope or ball below feet - Ball fades right Compensate your aim accordingly and allow for the corresponding draw or fade.
should i even try 3 woods on slope or my method of hitting is wrong? either weight distribution or hitting angle etc. thanks. If the ball is slightly upslope and sitting up, you can even hit the driver off the deck for more distance. Not easy, but a very satisfying shot if it can be pulled off. Spot on again birdman. I think it applies to every club. One thing I learned which I find really useful, is to tilt Ur upper body with the slope. Uphill lie, keep weight balance and tilt back so that Ur shoulders are parallel to the ground. This levels out Ur swing plane. otherwise u'd be chunking any club into the ground or topping it. Another important point is ball position. Eg If I was hitting a 3 wood. Uphill lie, little forward than normal. And a little behind normal for downhill lies. But always make sure Ur shoulders are level with the ground. Ball above or below Ur feet? Balance! Try to maintain Ur weight distribution. Ie.not to lean forward when the ball's below Ur feet, or lean back If the ball's above. Take an easy swing cus it's likely to feel awkward. It's better to swing easy n make hit it than miss. A very gd point birdman made is to be selective on when to hit e 3w. Let's say it's a 480m par 5. I hit a solid drive of 270m. Leaving myself 210 to the hole. But ball is on a downhill lie. I know If I use my 3w i can reach in 2. But If I hit 3w ,it's gonna launch low and run. And I have a very good chance of topping the ball or there might be trouble behind. So I'd rather just lay up to a comfy distance, say 90-100m and have a gd channel of getting it close for a birdie.

Wow, bro. Your "Let say" is killing me. 270m with driver and going for 2 on with a 3wood on par 5 ? Lay up 90-100m to go for birdies ? I will sell my soul to have your distance. My 3 wood was only use when I hit a bad tee shot on a par 4 and try to get on with a 3 wood because my tee shot was short or with a long par 4. I do not use my wood on par 5 as I cannot get on with 2 anyway, so why bother.

However, there will always be some par 5's that are just within reach that will tempt u to take out the 3W. you have ur reasons for not using ur FW cus of confidence or distance issues. I am merely suggesting how course management can come into play and help with club selection.
