| IMHO ideally it would be all the same height as pros are like robots hehehehe... but I think coupled with the grooves which helps to produce higher spin rate on the ball, SW would be higher (unless of course it is a controlled shots). | |

| Now that we understand where spin comes from lets determine where excessive or inadequate spin comes from.
1. An off-centre hit increase sidespin and adds to spin rate. 2. A thin shot or a fat shot reduce or increase spin rate. 3. A downward or upward AOA changes the launch angle and will also increase or reduce spin rate.
So you can see the main culprit for excessive or inadequate spin rate for most social golfers is the swing itself.
Part One Question
My question to those who do not have the most consistency of swing is “What is the best remedy to hitting the sweet spot?” A swing coach or a new driver? The answer is pretty obvious hor.
Part Two Question
Assuming the golfer is pretty competent and now requires a better driver to ensure that he or she gain better advantage, so what should they look for?
Lets set 2 scenarios to think about…..
1. Golfer cannot launch the ball effectively. The Driver maximum height is about half his 7-iron height. Lots of roll but no control. 90 mph club head speed and 160 metres carry.
2. Golfer launches the ball high. 100 swing speed mph and only 200 metres total distance.
Lets have your views for the 2 scenarios.
Part Three Question
Now if you have to put a percentage to getting the right formula for a better driving statistic, which do you think are the most important for a reasonably competent golfer (the total of the following should be 100%):
1. Maintaining a positive composure ( %) 2. Getting the right driver head ( %) 3. Getting the right shaft ( %) 4. Getting the right ball ( %) 5. Getting the right shoes ( %) 6. Getting the right gloves ( %) 7. Getting the right bag ( %) 8. Others, pls specify_________________ ( %)
I will leave it to the forum members to partake in this exercise of finding the answer(s) but it sure looks like fun.

| -80% of the time ball will climb high and straight, then near the peak gently turn right and further right at the end (OB) -'good' flight is a straight boring flight (not as high as above) maybe 1-2 drives per game only), estimate (from distance left to hole) 210-220m (strong 7 iron ~130-135m) - if i hit near the top of the face, the ball will go very high and straight (~150m)...using Sumo 5900..shallow face...sometime got problems when tee too high.
Contact with the ball is not my problem, most of the slices are within the center area of the face (on the sound alone, sounded like a good drive)
conclusion = buy new driver?
current gamer is 8.5 Sumo 5900, Aldila NV55-S (tip 1/4 inch) 44.5 inch

Swing Coach

1. Golfer cannot launch the ball effectively. The Driver maximum height is about half his 7-iron height. Lots of roll but no control. 90 mph club head speed and 160 metres carry. higher lofted driver 10.5 with a Reg/Firm Shaft with high launch characteristics
2. Golfer launches the ball high. 100 swing speed mph and only 200 metres total distance. Stiff shaft with firmer tip and mid launch characteristics Lets have your views for the 2 scenarios.
Part Three Question
Now if you have to put a percentage to getting the right formula for a better driving statistic, which do you think are the most important for a reasonably competent golfer (the total of the following should be 100%):
1. Maintaining a positive composure ( 40%) 2. Getting the right driver head ( 10%) 3. Getting the right shaft ( 20%) 4. Getting the right ball ( 20%) 5. Getting the right shoes ( 5%) 6. Getting the right gloves ( 5%) 7. Getting the right bag ( %) 8. Others, pls specify_________________ ( %)

| 1. Golfer cannot launch the ball effectively. Get a higher lofted driver with deep face.
2. Golfer launches the ball high. 100 swing speed mph and only 200 metres total distance. Lower his tee height, ball positioning and for shaft, mid kick pt.

| Part One Question
My question to those who do not have the most consistency of swing is “What is the best remedy to hitting the sweet spot?” A swing coach or a new driver? The answer is pretty obvious hor. - Depends on the current driver the guy is using. No point for a beginner going to a coach with a 9.5 909D3 whiteboard 73-S Driver and AP2 irons with Project X 6.5 so answer is swing coach AND new driver.
- for equip, higher Driver loft (10.5), closed face driver, especially if using mid/low kick point, higher torque, active tip shaft like the Aldila NVS), maybe lighter weight shaft say 55g ,
2. Golfer launches the ball high. 100 swing speed mph and only 200 metres total distance. -for equip, low spin head (eg 9015D) , High/mid kick point shaft, stiff tip, maybe even heavier shaft say 75g.
better still get the spin rate and launch angle and work from there cause no idea of the person swing
for technique...no idea...
Lets have your views for the 2 scenarios.
