| Titleist 909D2 with a used Proto K, fitted by Ivan. I could not replicate the feel and performance ever since the shaft was broken by rough sfo baggage handlers. | |

No worries, bear in mind that this shaft works best for smooth transitions, ie, from backswing to downswing. From my own experience, anything quicker will see anextreme dispersion. On off days, you will want to break this driver. Just ask Derek and Begbie.

| OT: which is more important - driver shaft or the driver head to suit a particular golfer swing type?

| My BEST driver to date has got to be my Tour Burner with Graman 5 White shaft, fitted at BFG by Eric. It was the longest and most consistent driver to date.....
IMHO, the shaft plays the biggest importance as you may have some 'char kway teow' swing but if you've got the righty shaft, it would still be able to harness the most 'power' at the correct strike point......

One man's poison (yours) is another man's meat (mine)! Loving the CG Black so much I just picked up another at the Isetan sale. Went with a lower loft at 9 degrees. See how much carry I give up to pick up some roll. If anything, I now have a spare shaft.

| My most recent experience for drivers are xhot and R1. Xhot is forgiving but didn't give me the wow factor as far as distance is concerned. I was also struggling with the R1 on JDM shaft and all it gave was 20-30 degree push. Great when there is hazard on the left but I almost always have to borrow fairway on the right. Did some changes to the ball position and my follow through, and for the first time I was able to go places where I have never been in the past at my home course. Distance wise comparing to xhot, R1 is longer mainly due to more roll (granted the fairway was quite hard yesterday when i played and I was getting approx. 20yds roll) and I believe this is due to lower spin rate that JDM shaft yields. I have also tried R1 with Global Spec shaft and the distance + roll is similar to xhot.
For now I think I have managed to tame the R1 and it remains in the bag till the next best driver comes along.

| I use my old Cally Big Bertha 460 for 6 years now, i never fail to outdrive my flightmates. I also have a Cobra xspeed & Cally Diablo Octane, all cannot fight with the 460 (which some ppl have told me is a non-conforming driver, but who cares). | |
