GF, I have the tm 09 5h too, with tt crossfire, still shiny & rarely used, coz I put 5i in the bag for those low punch shots out of the woods. Thinking of getting backup 4h and 3h in case mine gets too worn. Really love those rescues.

I have to agree with Derek here......the TM '09 rescue clubs are damn easy to hit...heck, if i could get a 6H, I'd use that too.......as you can see from my signature, you can never have enough hybrids in your bag.....

End of the day, you can't go wrong with any of the TM hybrids.....

Written by someone who scored 76 at keppel... Definitely worth a try cheers

Btw, wat is difference between TM 09 TP version vs normal version?
Is normal version more forgiving?

Normally the TP version is heavier and the face is either sq or open.

For beginners and mid-high handicappers, suggest that instead of buying a 3 AND a 4 hybrid, buy a 5 hybrid (about 25 deg) and learn how to hit that first. As I have mentioned often, a 25 deg hybrid is often a beginners best friend.

As for which brand, the best part about 2nd hand clubs is that they are cheap, buy or borrow a couple to experiment until you find something you like.

My personal vote is for the old Taylor Made Burner 08 (or 09?) rescues, one of the easiest and most forgiving clubs around.

actually for real beginners (cos i know there are a few seasoned beginners here)..... i suggest use 7i tee off better

if 7i = 120-130m.... u hit 3x wll get u over 350m (dun need to buy 5H mah)

in addition, one will not hit most hazards (as most will be placed around the 200m mark, then again MBGC can be an exception)......

once u are comfy with 7i, then use 5i to tee off..... then be progressive as your swing/tempo improves

real beginners must be realistic, dun always want to par..... just make sure u dun triple or kenna snowman every round u play will be a feat by itself
But in most cases, beginner always go to the longesrt 1st....regardless what, par 4 or 5, sure driver 1st.

tell u story from many moons ago....

there was this dumbass beginner, within 3 months, buy iron set liao...

within 1 year, buy full set....

but hor, after playing for 2 years, still play like sh1t....

fortunately, he got a wise golf kaki.... one day, this wise old man told this dumbass golfer why not just play irons through for the round, then the wise old man proceed to cheong-kong the driver n woods from the dumbass golfer, so the DA golfer lan lan had to use 5i tee-off....

after couple of months, DA golfer realised his score deviation only +/- 3 from his score when he used the driver, but DA golfer lose less balls, incur less penalty strokes n actually got spare time to tcss with his kakis....

DA golfer finally understand that distance without control is important, so he train his woods well before he tee up, after his woods stablised, he train his driver before he tee up as well... cos its always a good thing to have the golf ball on the short grass than anywhere else, 2 on 2 putt, 3 on 1 putt, 4 on NO putt, all still par..... somemore got quality time to tcss with kaki mah "hit so far kum koi, cannot par leh, aiyo sayang hor"

nobody force a beginner to hit driver at every tee-box, one must plot your way around the course, ie, if index 400m par 4, beginner will find it hard going for par, why not just play for bogey, controlling your mistakes for 18 holes is critical for every beginner to break 90.....

long story hor.... soli soli

all characters are fictional, and by no means reflect any true events.....

The tm09 tp is not the same as normal tm09. Way different. This club just wanna send the ball to the right, not recommended for beginner. I had one and sold it immediately. Maybe for those who wanna reduce their hooks can use it.

I often read that "the better players battle a shot that goes left."

So when pushslice says the tp version wants to go right, it makes sense since it is a tp version.

When you ground the club, you can see which way the face is pointing. Check whether the face is square (points at the target) or open (points to the right of target).

bro calvinong,

As golfers we feel what you are going through..... trying to find a club that can match your play.

My sharing experience with you. See if this HELPS HELP

1) What is the longest iron in your bag?
2) What distance are you trying to cover?
Eg Players who choose #3 Hybrid (most time about 19deg-20 deg). They are hoping to achieve the distance of more the 180m.... of course I am saying with decent swing basic...
3) Visit a few different demos... check out Golf Taboild. A knowledgeable Brand Rep can provide you with correct advice.
4) You might want to consider Hybrid with more loft the #3 or #4. You will be surprise sometime it resulted in longer distance and more forgiving.

Hope the above can help you to settle in Swing

I think this is an old question. All fairway wood are longer then hybrid, so they suppose to hit further then most hybrid but it is difficult to hit with, for most beginners compare to hybrid, since they are longer.

Now, you decide what distance you want to cover ? How far can you can hit with a hybrid and fairway wood ?

Actually, adams pioneered hybrid wood n u hav the best of both world. Nickent in its hey day also have fairway utility with a shorter shaft n fairway head shape too. The important thing is the distance gaps that u like to cover n uour confidence to use it. Cheers n good weekend.
