| Was on my way home and thinking. Is there a cheaper way to handle heavier shaft than changing the shaft? Most time, if you change the shafts of full sets of iron, maybe will cost you around 500-700? of course including grips etc. Will it be better to train up and do weight training, like buying dump bells to build up your biceps to handle heavier shaft? Isn't that a cheaper alternative? Just a thought.

| Go for pullout shaft. That will be cheaper. Lets say $30 a pc (NS Pro 950). 4-P is about $280 inclusive of fitting. | |

| Cheapest way is to sell the current set and buy another set with lighter shaft.
Let me know if you want to let go your legacy black.

| A way is to use counterweight at the butt end of your shaft. This could be as easy as adding lead tape or changing a heavier grip. Go see your fitter | |

| Or just hold the club lower? Until the swing weight is light enough? | |

| 1. I think you could go to a club fitter and ask for their opinion and then see what they say. They may be alternatives. You never know. Big Fish at Bukit Merah Central is a good place to go to. They have track Man there as well so you could further analyze your shots. 2. Either Sell your clubs and find a suitable set of clubs for you. 3. You can get stronger and adapt to it but sometimes it really depends as well. It may not work. Sometimes it's the shaft flex, the club and the way it's designed that as a whole that may not be suitable for you at all. | |

| I got a set of TT Speed Step 85 steel from 5-P-S if you are interested. Original callaway grips. shaft and grips about a month old.
Also have a TT GS85 steel 4-P if the above does not catch your fancy.

| You can post a WTT thread and see if any bro here can swap the irons for you with or without top up. | |

Counter weighting will only add on "dead" weight to the club...... Bulking up, improving core muscles or keeping fit is definitely a cheaper alternative than tweaking equipment ~ that is, if time permits and the set was working fine during your fitter days......?? More often than not, it's the Indian not the Arrow

| If absolute weight is the issue, you may opt to cut down the shafts to your needed weight? or consider other more aggressive options i.e. grind the head down, removal of ferrules, usage of light weight grips.
For the sake of discussion and sharing, has anyone done any of the mentioned?

| I have 2 sets of irons: Cobra pro cb fitted with 110g kbs tour regular Callaway x forged fitted with 120g kbs c taper stiff
I have learned to handle the heavier shafts and find that heavier equipment actually helps to smoothen out the swing and are more accurate.
During my learning period, I used a lot of arms and hand strength to swing the clubs which caused me to tire out fast and when I am tired, tops and duffs appear.
I have since learned to use my body and midsection to swing the clubs and this makes the swing very effortless.
So I guess by learning to use big muscles to handle heavier shafts would be my most cost effective suggestion.

| Well said Dennis. No wonder so sharp these days!! Heavier clubs are actually easier to handle if u swing right. And the feeling should be pretty effortless. Allowing the club and loft to do the work. Why not drop by a fitter and get the set checked out? If it's a used set, there's a chance that the previous owner added weights to the nozzle of shaft tips. You can also get them to balance the club for u and reduce the swing weight to make it more manageable. U can pick up and swing an axe with ur body..but not with ur wrist. | |

Thank you bro for your suggestion, was gaming BFG Irons for about 2 years, so yah, i know how that can help. Didn't want to spend another large sum of $$ to rebuild as it is expensive. So i am in two minds to go with the pain and spend that 500-600 to get fitted? or build my strength to handle the shaft. Normally, now 1st 9 ok, 2nd 9 is the problem. Gone to a fitter to optimise the black iron already. of course the best results from trackman is a lighter shaft, which has the best distance and dispersion.

Instead of using hands to drink beer, lower your head to the mug and bite the mug and tilt your head back.

| See Rory's swing.
He initiates his throughswing with a squat as mentioned by the commentator. That is the key to an effortless swing.
