| Andrew: I felt more stress on my right elbow when I hit my drivers there compared to keppel or bishan range. Could it be caused by the balls are a tad harder than the rest? But most pain is felt at my pocket... $7 for 80 balls is almost day light robbery ... Then again if I can instruct the local mei mei like Daren, all these pains will disappear | |

When I first started hitting balls some 6 yrs ago, it was at this range. Affectionately names VW range back then.
No mei meis at the canteen to serve you tiger beer.
When it closed abt 3 yrs ago, I was very sad.
I still remembered I was the last guy at the bay at the last day it closed, at 11pm. The indian range keeper and I shared a smoke and talk kok. It was raining that night.
Strangely, at the last day, they were using BRAND NEW TPY range balls. I kept a few for souveneir and stayed on that night until all the lights were turned down. sibei memory... all alone in the moonlight~~~

Then again if I can instruct the local mei mei like Daren, all these pains will disappear I suspect you are hitting your Driver off the deck and not of the rubber tee at TYP, that is why u feel stress on your elbow ! and hitting driver off the tee at keppel and bishan that why no stress on elbow...... Range ball compression mostly, if not all, in the 50 compression range Prov 1 compression is 90 Prov 1 x compression is 100 so range ball should not feel hard in that sense....

| i just tried TPY range today and i find it reasonable. What i did was join the member and the cost became 5c per ball, but i topped up more to get this discounted price. In any case, its ok for me since it is near my house, i save up from the driving. I guess everyone has their preference. My lessons are at MBGC but driving from TPY to MBGC i think it is obvious i save from the driving instead. | |

| I was at Toa Payoh earlier with my lady friend. She just bought a new burner 09 driver and very gian.
Firstly, she's not really a good golfer (esp her driver). But since she just bought, she very gian and we went to TPY.
While she was messing around with her driver on the long tee, I noticed that there was one particular staff in TPY hovering around our bays.
Then he came close to us and said , "Hi Bro, U need to release your swing, should not control your follow thru" , while I was pitching...
So I said, " Well, perhaps you're right bro" . I was already slightly irritated.
Then she went over to my lady friend and said.."Hi sis, are you a beginner? If you are you should start with a 7 iron or maybe 8. Should not go for driver, since its the longest club...We do conduct lessons here for you if you're interested..."
That was the straw that broke the camel's back.
My friend also cannot be bothered to answer him as she already has a pro elsewhere guiding her and she is just there only to try out the driver!!!
After that experience, we decided not to go back to TPY. So many "PRO's" ard wanting to give free advice.
I am going back to my fave range... Orchid Country Club..... I like the serenity, green feeling, automatic tee and the mosquitoes..!!!

| I was quite annoyed the other day when i was at the TPY range. I was hitting my driver, an old second hand 9.5 Deg club that my girlfren got me as a present. I love that driver as itz got a slightly smaller head than the new ones on the market rite now. Suddenly an apek working at the range was sitting on the blue chair behind me and started to comment on my swing. I was alright with someone giving me advice and all but then he started being annoying and refused to leave me alone. He even told me to change my driver. I understand that it is old but the thing is, my drives are still rising when they hit the netting at the end of the range. He then told me to hit a couple of demo clubs from the pro shop. He even said that my drives are too low compared to what he usually saw at the range. (Duh 9.5 degrees leh) Lol! I hit the clubs and i mean they are great clubs but would cost me 700 bucks. Shots were higher and straight as they were 10.5 deg ones. I then turned to him and said "Uncle i show you the same shot with my $100 driver. I tilted my shoulder and let one rip and the shot was identical with the $700 driver. Uncle and demo golf club soon left. But now I want to buy new driver becoz the sound was Gila! The thing is guys! Your swing is like your baby that you take thousands of hours to develop. thousands of balls. When you are engaging someone to help you with your swing it is like you sending your baby and entrusting it to someone elses care, hoping to develop it further. Best is to get advice from pros and entrusting its care to them if you really want to get better. | |

I am going back to my fave range... Orchid Country Club..... I like the serenity, green feeling, automatic tee and the mosquitoes..!!! I now visit OCC b'cos I still have 1400 ball left...I stop going TP Range the ball hard with micro chip insert,,, can't go far and can't gauge your actual distances... TP range used o have many Kaypo advisers, they can't even swing properly yet they want to advice on your swing... that's what I call perfecting your your mistake from ill advice! I know one Ah Peh name "Charles" he go around Kaypo at the range and one fine day he left TP range without taking his golf bag....not once but twice just being Kaypo....especially when see a lady..he would take the opportunity to Kaypo correct her swing.... Now I don't seee him anymore So no more Kaypo around! but new one emerged! cheeers

| i think he has a little moustache and he is a TP staff. trying to get golfers to try out the dumb Scoring System or try to get golfers to sign up lessons. dun think he is a PRO.
the balls r better now n they reduce the price of balls. now 80 balls S$6 if u join as member. members can also get discount for food n beverage.
my 2 sons hv lessons there every sunday so i hv no choice but go there n hit some balls at times.
so far, he didnt bother me but my wife kena once.
