| Anyone tried the new range balls at the Toa Payoh range? Utterly atrocious! Its so damn hard we'd might as well be hitting rocks off the gravel. Can't get no decent ball compression man Its evident, I lost 20-30m distance with my irons as compared to the previous range balls, and I won't even start about my woods. Apparently these new balls are micro-chipped to facilitate the new PlayGolf system, which although blocks out view of where your ball lands, I'm totally for it. I mean, whatever brings new players to this wonderful game is a good thing. But the realistic side of range has been compromised. We no longer can trust our yardages gathered there to be true on course. If anyone here ever range there do validate my findings, please. Sorry for rambling on a Sunday morning Have a good one peeps | |

| hmm i don't think anyone should gauge their distances from the range anyway. it's highly inaccurate! haha i think there was a thread that discussed this a while ago.
anyway i was there when they were still setting things up a week back. does this mean the micro-chipped balls are different than the normal golf ball?

| Haha well I use a set of Wilson golf balls which are rather similar in length to their previous range balls, maybe that's why Well straight out the bat you'd notice the balls are extremely hard. I get this flaky residue on my irons and wedges after impact. Aesthetically they look smaller, the next time you're there lemme know if its just me | |

| One thing I know about range balls everywhere is that they used low compression balls so as to effectively reduced the actual distance of actual balls because due to lack of space of the range, they do not want long hitters to hit it beyond the perimeter. If what you said is true about it being harder, then there is a chance that long hitters will be shooting out of the range perimeters which will be a menace. So unless more members comes in and verify that it is harder, we just got to monitor for the moment. OF COURSE ON THE OTHER HAND, I COULD BE DEAD WRONG IN MY RECKONING about the results of low compression balls. Good Sunday morning bro. Titu | |

| My above-mentioned statements comes from my past experiences and comments from golf fitters I knew. Moreover, everytime I go to the range I usually bring along 10 to 20 used balls or those picked up and accumulated from my usual round of golfing. The actual used balls ALWAYS goes further than the range balls, just for your info. Cheers. Titu | |

| Yup, as the range is situated just beside the CTE, they would have considered ball compression and factors to keep balls within the range. Still I'm not impressed by the extra hard balls GIVE US PRO V1s!!! | |

| actually i wana start this thread the last few days... SO disappointed with the range balls... heavy and hard..
Can see the difference in the trajectory and when the ball dipped downwards as if it's very heavy.
Then, it comes the sound upon impact.. no use buying Mizuno club... No more buttery feeling! very very very bad.. it's piak piak piak sound.. haizz
From that day onwards, i started goin back Bishan though I cun see the distance i hit. It's ok la.. just see how straight I hit bah..

| Yeah Roystonnn, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. The balls there are hard as bricks. And the sound is so retarded I play with my iPod on. Might start going to Bishan as well, but I heard cuz fewer bays might have to wait to play jhan18: Thanks, actually looking forward to trying out the range at MBGC, but don't have the time these few days, except for weekends. | Still fixing? I thought the notice up was only for the month of November that they'll close the range all weekday mornings from 7am-2pm? Anyways, now I no longer look forward to my Saturday range sessions anymore. Stupid balls | |

| The reason why I go there cuz its so near my house I just walk there. And it was brilliant when I was working APAC hours I could pop by after work just to play a token or 2. I was there up to 5 or 6times a week Yep I'll get in touch with you ironfist, when do you normally range? And where would you prefer? | |

| haha quite hard for me now actually. school is taking up most of my time. but usually it's either sunday or saturday afternoon-early evening. i used to go TPY but the playgolf thing is annoying and bishan the quality of the mats/balls is horrendous. i guess now no choice but to head to OCC or MBGC if i'm in the mood for a drive. haha and i've always stared at the flats around TPY range and i was so jealous! hahah i was imagining how fantastic it would be if i stayed there! hahaha | |

| Haha yeah I know what you mean mate, been there, and DONE that Yeah I normally range on Saturdays depending on what time I wake up, I can work pretty late on Fridays maybe reaching home at 3 or 4am. I agree man, the PlayGolf has made me not want to Play Golf! Haha no lah, I won't let those stupid contraptions stop me My house isn't exactly flanking the range, and when I'm lazy to walk there I normally cab there for $3.40 haha. Was thinking of Bishan though, but now that you mention the quality or lack thereof, seems like its down to OCC or MBGC | |

| my experience is that hitting range balls with driver is more different in distant than with irons.
today at nsrcc, i hit with driver only landed on 140m. when on green, my driver landed >180m. iron shorts are about same distant on range and green.

| This morning when i went, i saw this notice on the counter that says from Jan 2010, they are no longer selling/accepting tokens. SIANZ. Muz buy the card if wanna play even in their 'practice' mode i.e not playing their Playgolf game.
Price has gone up for the new credits system using the card...if i rem correctly, it's like $8 or $9 plus for just 80 balls? And $3 or $4 plus for 40 balls ... used to pay just $6 for 90 plus balls.
