| Personally, I find the PlayGolf system at Toa Payoh Drivng Range alread rather irritating because it laterally covers almost 50% of the nearby hitting field.
Balls that do not have a trjectory high enuff past about 150 metres will hit the contraptions and fall to the ground.
I wished they would have left a large middle part open so that those trying to reach the 180 -200 metre distances would not be forced to always hit high trajectory shots. Forget about trying long-distant punch/cut-across shots also.
Once finished, the Poh Bros driving range will be more similar to a hi-tech bowling alley than a wide open field driving range for those who love to 'grip it and rip it' (John Daly).
On the other hand, thye PlayGolf will encourage golfers to 'take dead aim' (Harvy Pennick) rather than just 'hit & hope'.
So it's accuracy over distance somewhat now at the driving range.
At least it's something different.
I heard OCC's driving range may end up with a similar hi-tech system in the near future.

| It's a 'high tech' score keeping target-oriented system wherein you aim for large metal-framed areas in which to hit the ball for points.
The scoring system can be seen on a screen (not in place yet) and you can compete against other players who are currently playing on the system.
Target Golf uses small micro-chips in each range ball to compute scores and has an underground ball-retrieval system, but the TPY version may be lower tech using motion sensors in the ball catch areas.
Anyways, I agree with Roystonn on the limitations the devices impose on 'traditional' driving range rats --like me.

| Sounds like fun, well, the market will decide for itself whether they are viable. Not too bad to have options actually, with so many ranges available, can always choose one suitable to one's need | |

| they've recently decided to taper the ground to these protruding contraptions, thank God! cuz before that, wayward shots were flying back into the bay areas!!! super dangerous!!! yeah but they block out the view on certain shots, which can be annoying at times | |
