That's why i always park my car first and then bring out my Golf Bag and return to my car after the game with my golf bag before heading to the showers. Simply not worth the risk with losing the Golf bag with clubs in there.

If you ever play there chemicalpro, keep your golf set in your car before taking shower. Otherwise your brand new TM/Titleist/scotty might be gone forever.

They already lenient a bit la. Do you know that initially after they just open, they used football style of issuing yellow cards and red cards? For not repairing your divots, if get caught, they issued you 1st yellow card. Second one they caught you again, they give you 2nd yellow card. Third time they caught you, you get red card , that means they have the right to asked you to go home. Because it is their rule and stated clearly when you pay for your green fees. Now they already tone down. Anyway its for the good of every one la. Do you like it when your ball lands in a deep divot where some a*****le never repair their divot on the fairway? lol!

For those who have to take swing test and pay $10, why don't you ask the counter after you got your licence to play, whether you can pay another $10.00 to join their membership which expires in 1 year time. If can, you save about $5.00 every game thereafter and don't have to retake and pay another $10.00 after 1 month. I for one pay them this extra $10.00 and I can do booking on line with out having to pay booking fees at all. Can think about that. Very Happy

I agree with the divots part Titu, freaking can't stand those who don't replace their divots or fill it out with sand. Too caddy dependent Laughing

And recently I've been a bit anal about pitch marks not fixed too lol!

caddy only will tekan u if u give them your black face. Treating them like lower class citizen also is not helpful. Some golfers i see treat the workers / marshals there like servants in their house. If its an exclusive country club, maybe can cause u pay to act like a boss, but MBCG is a public club. Sometimes they are friendlier to Ang Mos cause most Ang Mos are polite and friendly (not to be grouped with those drunk tourists at Clark Quay).

Played MBGC a few time, only one marshal tekan us cause we play quite slow (follow us for 3 holes), the rest actually quite friendly or became friendly after u talk back to them in a civilized manner (saying 'WTF or ' straight after they warn u is not helpful). Even aim the wrong hole, got a gentle warning only.

I have no problems there or anywhere else as far as I am concern. I do my part anywhere I play. Rules are set up to be followed and if it is not, then chaos reigns. I guess sometimes must blame oneself if he/she can't adapt to the rules or played badly that day and thus behave boorishly causing interventions from the 'sheriffs' lol! Peace

Agreed. This is Money Face Golf Club. Everything is about money. I think if you gave them $10 everytime they come to you they will shut their mouth. They are trying to emulate Dubai Creek Golf Club (which, of course, is a fantastic course) but I think they are failing drastically. It's the nearest place to golf when the visitors to the new IR comes up.

In my opinion when the IR comes up there should be some changes in it's policy. Most likely they will give some priority to IR hotel guests or something like that. Try telling our foreign visitors to "replace the divot or else get a yellow card". I'd like to see what happens. I wonder eventually who will get the yellow card.

I still range there once in a while because some of my mates like it there. The facilities are good, that's a fact. (And there are many XMM there too.) But the club's policies and directives remain questionable.

I cant even play at OCC with my MBCG resident golf school (Star Golf) PC card. Only able to play cause of arrangement at work.

Infact i cant play anywhere decent 18 holes in Singapore with a PC. MBGC is actually very good for PC (or those with nothing at all) to play a full 18 hole course anytime...all for just $10, instead of time and $$ to get a handicap.

That being said, with this good offer, they will get a lot of hacks (like me Smile )..decent at the mat (good enough to pass...BTW it seem to be very easy to pass the swing test as what i have notice), but will take huge chunks of land (use to anyway Razz), even with their practice swing. In fact they are a patient as they can be when i shoot almost 140 on my first game (with 2 of my fellow PCers on the same flight shooting a similar score)

MBGC is a place for all golfers, beginners, hackers, pros, good players with no qualifications, tourist and all...something most handicappers will not appreciate cause they dont need the 'extra' service MBGC provides.

Yes, rules are to be followed but not blindly even it is impractical or worst irrelevant. One must stand up for his/her rights and speak up if necessary. MGBC must remember, we pays to play and not to be shouted at like a recruit in the army.

MBGC like any commercial entity ,must remember it's survival depends on golfers patronage.

The problem is, like many other establishments, MBGC adopts the approach that if you don't like it, you can go elsewhere. Unfortunately, there aren't many courses in SG which means that we are forced to accept this. Pity.

Very good point. We forget that for a mere $10 without a handicap, we get to play a pretty good course, where else in Singapore can you do that? So why complain?

And even with the vigilance of the marshalls, there are still divots the size of bomb craters not filled. And I don't even want to mention the deplorable state of the bunkers, shocking to say the least. Just because you take a dozen shots to get out and are extremely frazzled, is still no reason not to rake the bunkers. No, make that bulldoze, cos that's how bad it is in there. Can you blame the marshalls?

Speaking of which, I find most of them to be friendly, one or two are somewhat of a sourpuss, but never have they shouted at me.

When the IR does open and tourists do come to play, can you imagine what they will think of Singaporean golfers when they see the divots and the bunkers? They'll think our homes are the same!

Question: How many of us here actually fill in our divots and rake the bunkers with diligence? Dare I even ask how many fill in the pitchmarks made on the green?

A friend of mine played in Scotland and repaired his pitchmark on the green. A Scots playng in the same flight reminded him that he should repair any other pitchmark around him too. Same goes for the bunkers and divots. Etiquette though not part of the rules, is taken just as seriously there. Here, we simply don't care!

Thing is, grass takes time to repair itself, and the amount of traffic going through each day is not going to help, so every little bit we do helps the course to heal itself. How many times have we complained about bad course conditions and blamed the club when we ourselves have not done our part? I've seen massive gouges from buggies driven right through soggy ground, when we all know buggy should be on tracks on wet days, yet we are all too lazy or unfit to walk that extra little bit. We'd rather tear up the course with the buggy for the sake of convenience and the enjoyment of our single round of golf.

And if you've played MBGC, haven't you cursed and sworn when ur ball lands in a divot not filled in, or in the bunker in some massive footprint? Someone before left you in that nasty position and golf is play it as it lies. Why would you then put someone else in a similar wretched lie you just ended up in?

Let's turn our attention to another course in Singapore, NSRCC. They have the most number of rounds going every single day of the year, it's practically a world record that it's almost full 365 days a year. Yet look at the course condition, as good as most other courses with much lesser traffic. Most who play there fill in divots and rake bunkers cos they know how a marshall seems to be around every corner, golfers there do their bit. Perhaps it's a still lingering perception, cos in the early days, rumours were that the marshalls were alll retired enciks, and they really scolded like in the army man. Slow scold, never rake bunker scold, never carry sand scold. We have them to thank indirectly for drilling better etiquette into those playing NSRC.

We want to play, we want to enjoy cos we pay good money. We didn't come out here to have some sense of responsibility, why spoil our game?

Well... I do agree that the it can be a little irksome over at MBGC, but not that bad la. Except for the golf bags being stolen, that one raise my eyebrows! Least they can do is install security cameras with all the little extras they collect.

Glad you brought up pitchmarks man... I've been increasingly anal about the greens being as dimpled as a freaking golfball can!

If you can't repair all the pitchmarks that you spot its understandable cuz its gonna freaking take you half a day to, at least repair your own or those in your putting line.

You're right man, most sg golfers simply bo chup!
