| my friend was forced to take it....
cant recall how many he hit (take it as a warmup lor)... think you juz need to demonstrate you can hit and launch the ball with your iron and driver.
sure pass one, right? | |

| My friend did it the other day. He hit 10 balls, I think. I think he duffed one or two but the rest went into the air. Got his "pass." | |

| hi there,
i am still a beginner.
just want to find out more information.
range should be no problem if going alone.
but the term "test" does gives some physicological effects.
haha | |

| Hi, the test is done with the 7iron and usually you hit 5 to 6 balls then the instructor will pass you. They don't expect you to hit the 7iron 130m, they just want to see that you are reasonably proficient and can launch the ball also that you wont be a hazard to the other ppl playing. Hope this helps... | |

| I don't see why not bian1980. one more thing with this swing test. Your pass is valid for one month, so if you play at mbgc again after a month, you'll have to (pay $$ to) take the test again.
but more importantly, like shorthitter says, relax and just hit. Taking the test just before tee off is good warm up too...

| To me, this so called swing test is a joke. All they want is to make some money from you.
Do you need to take the same test when you play in malaysia/batam/thailand? the answer is no.

| TLHENG,
what to do. we are in singapore.
they claim that need handicape cause they spend millions of dollars to maintain the courses so they want golfers to know how to take care of the courses.

Not only that, i think it's mainly because of the tight layout of the Golf Course itself. I have seen and duck a few times from stray hits from another fairway. Some even hit their shots on the green that your in.

| That swing test can prevent damages to the course? Not only that, the last time I played there, almost have a fight with the marshal. Why? -- he followed us every hole and shouted at us to carry sand to repair divot. Can you imagine parking your buggy next to your ball and he comes over and say why you never carry sand. I have not even taken my shot and he assumes there will be a divot. Worst is, 4 ang moh (beginner) playing ahead of us and that marshal did not say a word to them. Why the discrimination against local? | |

| Forgot to mention that MBGC is the only range that charges GST for the balls. | |

| TLHENG, you should have told him you intend to putt the entire course so don't need sand.
That's clear discrimination! Should've reported that marshall to the clubhouse! Though its a public course and you're not paying a whole lot of money as compared to other clubs charge but you're still there to enjoy your game.
Round ruined for sure man...

| And many golf sets were stolen when left at the bag stand after the game. And the management of MBGC says they are not responsible. | |
