| All the talk has been how tough the course is set up for the tournament, esp holes 1-6. The consensus is anyone who can play 1-6 at par for 4 days will likely be in contention/winning the US Open.
Talk about tough, the Tiger-Phil-Bubba group just played 2 holes, 9 and 10.
Tiger is even.
Bubba is +1.
Phil is +2.
That's just after two holes. I am popping open a beer, a packet of nuts, and settling down for an interesting night.

Because 10 is too far away from the clubhouse. Now why it was designed so, dunno.

| Hole 14, Tiger missed the green, hitting out the thick rough fringe.
The amount of camera shutters that exploded as Tiger chipped is astoundingly deafening!
Now I know why mobile phones were banned.

Both Tiger and Phil miss their birdie putts, should make par.
16th Kevin Na begins to back away from his shot, tension mounting and OCD creeping into his pre shot routine. On the 2nd try, his approach misses the green and trickles left down the shaved green.
It's going to be brutal.

| 17th Na, co-leader at -2, makes a tee shot without issue, hits fairway. 16th Tiger lays up. Bubba driver off the fairway! Misses right of the green. Announcer, "Bubba doesn't carry a 3 wood, because he said only short hitters carry a 3 wood." | |

Tiger lays up.
Bubba driver off the fairway! Misses right of the green. Announcer, "Bubba doesn't carry a 3 wood, because he said only short hitters carry a 3 wood." 16th Phil under some trees, unsurprisingly. Hooks his escape shot but misses the green down to the no man's land of a collection area. Looks like a sure bogey. Tiger's wedge approach hits the center of the green, but long putt left.

| Phil's chip from no man's land collection area hit the bank but runs across the green w too much speed to the fringe.
Phil 1 chip 1 putt, bogey.
Tiger lags his putt, should make par.

Na back to 3 under, back at the lead, after hitting the green in 2 and 2-putt at this par 5.
Bjorn chips after missing the green, the slope catches the ball and rolled it right back to his feet.
Wow, if you miss the greens on the wrong side, you're in real trouble.

| Tiger, Phil, Na and Bubba getting practically all the coverage now. You'd think it was a 4-man tournament. | |

| 17th Par 5 522 yards
Tiger's stinger finds the fairway but trickles to the first cut on the right, ball sitting up perfect.
Phil takes driver, tries a fade, but hit a double cross instead, ball heads into the crowd. Maybe Phil spotted someone with a mobile phone there and was trying to take him out.
