| Jim's approach hits something on the green and careens off to the left bunker.
Tiger safely on the green, right and below the pin.

| Both Tiger and Jim makes par, remaining at even, T1.
Toms drops a stroke at hole 3, dropping to +1.

| Hole 3 par 3 247
Tiger is about 1 club short, still needing to adjust to the unexpectedly slower course.
Jim's shot looks good but takes a hop to the right rough just short of the green.

Jim's shot looks good but takes a hop to the right rough just short of the green. Furyk's upslope chip was hot and straight, hitting the flag stick and stopped close. Else would have overshot. Tiger's chip with the putter took an extra hop on the fringe and stops short well below the pin. Ironically, the organisers watering the course to make it slower and friendlier after 2 days of carnage is actually causing a lot of the players to drop strokes as they fail to adjust. Tiger misses the putt, drops to +1. Furyk makes his par putt. Sole leader at even.

| Meanwhile at the 5th, Gmac also at +1, finds the left rough at the green.
Jim's lead is in danger as he finds the rough at the 4th par 4 423 yard.
Tiger fairway with iron.

| Tiger's approach, 167 left.
Reading the wind carefully. Cuts it. Lands near the flag and rolls to the right.
Jim from 148, ball below feet in the rough, gets it below the pin.

And he gets it close, ball tracking toward the pin. Should be able to make par from there.

Tiger tries to draw but ball does not come back, lands in right bunker. Furyk overshoots his pitch, maybe caught a flyer, long putt left.

| Hole 6 par 4 499.
Tiger and Furyk both layup just short of the fairway bunker on the left (the only fairway bunker in the course.)
Jim's approach is short of the pin on the green.
Tiger has a downhill lie, has to play ball toward the right foot with a bit of a step through follow through ala Gary Player.
Tiger's approach is short of the green, finds the false front, and rolls back down just in front of the rough to the left to the gasps of the crowd.

With tricky lie, ball on fairway but fringe catching the club just behind the ball, Tiger's chip comes out hot and stops above the pin. He faces a tough downhill putt and may drop a stroke.

| Hole 7 par 4 288.
This is the drivable hole 4.
Tiger's wood (pun intended) does not cut enough, he finds the left bunker.
Furyk also bunker, on the other side.

Jim's 7 iron and Tiger's 6 iron both find the green past the flag which is cut in front today.
