Clarion Call!!! Join the Short Hitters Club (SHiC) today!

If one were to go by the posts in online golf forums, one would think that more than half the golfers out there drive the ball more than 250m, take short irons for 150m shots and reach Par 5s in 2 shots on a routine basis. Or that a 200m drive is barely acceptable.

I am sure the actual statistics tell a very different story. Swing speeds, like Handicap Indexes, follow a normal bell shaped distribution. Most of us average, less are above and below average, and very few are exceptional. According to the PGA (US Based), the average male golfer's swing speed for a driver is 85mph. Given the larger and taller physiques of caucasians vs asians (on average), the average asian male golfer's swing speed might be slightly lower. (Side note: average US female swing speed is 65mph)

There is strength in UNITY!!!! Let's band together to share our woes and experiences from the unique (or perhaps not so unique) perspective of the short and normal hitters of the game. WE SHALL BE SHiC (trademark pending)!

So if YOU:

- struggle to hit a 6 iron 150m, let alone a 9 iron
- think that a 200m drive is a good drive
- can only dream of driving the green on a Par 4 or reaching a Par 5 in 2 shots
- Have a driver swing speed in double digits (mph)
- have been made to feel inadequate by long hitting friends and flightmates
- prefer to play from the white tee instead of the blue

SHiC is also looking to fill the following committee positions:

Gurus: (looking for Golf Professionals with swing speeds below 100mph)
Team Captains: (short hitters who give 2-2 to long hitters, e.g. Golfool)
Missionaries: (to spread the word that is Short is OK!)
Guest Speakers: (anyone with useful knowledge that can be shared with members of SHiC, note: "U should quit golf" is not considered useful knowledge)

and most importantly

Main Patron / Sponsor: (preferable short hitting multimillionaire and avid golfer)

Upcoming Programs and Events:

1) Mental Game Talk: "How to mind f**k your opponent into bombing his tee shot OB."
2) Equipment Talk: "Have you considered using L flex shafts?"
3) Skills Challenge: Outdrive mloy and get a sleeve of golf balls
4) Beat the Pro: Hit the target (30m) with your 7 iron, resident Pro, Muar Chee, note: Golf Balls are not allowed

While membership is SHiC is open to most, unfortunately some will not be eligible to join, examples are Golfers who:

- complain about playing from the white tee cos after driving, they can't make a full swing for the second shot
- Cause a jam at the tee box cos they are waiting for the flight in front to clear the green
- are the main reason why flightmates use earplugs at the teebox from the sound of their driver striking the ball
- Specially hunt for tour equipment cos even normal aftermarket S-flex is not stiff enough
- hit 200m target boards with hybrids

bro Slinger, thank you for application for position of Secretary. I note that you have mentioned before that your swing speed is slightly above 100mph, which disqualifies you. However, I am sure you can swing the driver at any speed you want, and still send it where you want, and that the members of SHiC can greatly benefit from your experience, so WELCOME!!!!

I think there should be another club called the "Sprayers Club"

After today's game, I should be named honorary vice chairman (as founder, Derek should be Chairman).....teeing off with aloy, 2008 and guy was demoralising.........

Separate flight from the Sprayer's club please....scared they're spraying more than just errant golf shots....
