| I advocate no range time at all. but of course that is why I cannot improve. I do spend more time at the chipping green though . and that has evened out my tee box jitters.
really though it was because I got golfers elbow using cally x forged irons 6 years ago. the first gen ones

| I also had this after whacking 100+ balls consecutively everyday... now i just go range on alternate day, have plenty of finger resting and relaxing and it less pain in the morning.
I guess it need time to recover and build str for the muscle.
Nowadas just try not to dig into the mats...
warm up with iron, practice Irons from short till drivers. 3 balls each. then back to pitching and chipping ard 10 balls...
There rest drivers.... alternate iron if back tired

agree with Techno, unless you're aiming to turn pro - just cut down on range time and also try and have a not to firm grip on the club.
FYI mine took a couple of months to go away - bit by bit. I still ranged and had games so it after a range or game would feel it again but got lesser and lesser. That's a good routine, in fact I see many people go range hoot drivers non stop machiam wanna kill the balls. But remember, on the course you don't whack so many times should focus more on irons and wedges instead.

| hmmm. I'm hitting the range 2-3 times a week and each time less than 200 balls... Lets see how I can cut down.
Thanks for sharing guys!

| Had the same issue when i started out.
Swapped to a midsized grip. Bigger meant less grip pressure required. Hands didnt feel as tired after a long range session. Never had trigger fingers after.
There are some softer arthritic grips as well. Lamkin does a few, the dri tac ones and some specifically for arthritic golfers. They dont peel in our weather as far as i know.
There are clearly some effects of having a wrong sized grip. Too big, the club becomes a baseball bat. Also tend to be difficult to release. Too small, hooks and achy hands.

| Hi!
Just noticed this thread back up. In my case, it disappeared after 2 months only after I stayed away from range time/game. Thereafter, I just keep my practices to quality shots (100-150 slower, focused hits) than my previous quantity drills (200+ up).

| My coach changed my grip from interlocking to all 8 fingers gripping the shaft and stacked, and this allowed me to hit much straighter n longer shots. | |

| Trigger finger is caused by an inflammation of the tendon so much so that it is too big for the tendon sheath. It normally happen due to too much range practice and especially to beginners who tend to hit fat. The driving range mat does not help this cause either.
I have kenna trigger finger twice and both times I went for a steroid injection follow by rest. As I became more seasoned beginner, I strike the ball more cleanly.....thank God so far so good
Steroid may not work for all. The best way to get rid of this problem permanently is to go for an operation which remove the tendon sheath.....in that way even if the tendon is inflame, there is no sheath to block the movement

| KCL, it is due to repetitive actions of the wrist. I had the same problem 3 years ago. | |

| Yes rest but always tempted to whack some balls. So nothing to do with grip. Never had this problem before. | |
