| MBGC has always been a place where love and hate …most times collide. @ 13th, was back in MBGC as part of the seemingly biggest Operation Desert Storm (to saddam Ghoon)…….
Due to the sudden bail-out of a certain member (nick sound like some Jap beer…hahahah), we were stuck with 3ball meaning high potential a stranger will join us…..and yes, true enough…one ‘Jim Furyk’-type came in…..I am not kidding…both in physique and swing…its macam Jim
So 4 balls…..Mr. Techno, ZhenXua, myself and ‘Jim’.
Trouble started with the tee off……ironically both Techno and myself are position to peak at our original time of tee-off…but becos of a ‘celebrity golfer’, it distorted our rhythm……..sigh
Well, the show must go on…we chuck along the way….parading my landscaping skills specifically focusing on testing the softness of the fairway by taking divots …..unnecessarily !!!
TCSS was among the highest level ever encountered…..then something shocking happen….Bro ZhenXua was using CASINO CHIP AS BALL MARKER……!!! I am pretty sure he was indirectly telling me something where strong likelihood its due to the overly small wager that we had. 2 games in a row, I was reminded how short a hitter I am……very depressing……I am inconsolable now
Something I realized….never never use the TEE as a ball marker…..it might coz somebody putting to hit it…which I did…..(nothing to do with Techno and Zhenxua)…..
The one downside of the game was that I MISSED A HOLE-IN-ONE BY ONE STROKE !!!!.....sian…..coz I putted into hole fm 10ft….hahahahah
Thanks Techno…wonderful TCSS co-partner….and thanks ZhenXua for further re-enforcing the fact that I am short….a hitter…….again….

| both bro duval and TS are good playing partners, good company to make me forget about my bad game
I think the 3 of us were kinda affected by jim's swing, like how eiji was affected when his right-handed flight mate started to putt left-handed. i mean, how could we be outdriven by such a swing! but that's what's happening ...
bro duval's loud sigh, when he putted and the ball bounced off jim's tee marker, said everything
bro duval was patiently guiding me on the seasoned beginner's way; and despite my frequent duffing of pitches and chips, I was beginning to learn the ropes
@bro duval, I was about to hand over my casino chip to you until I miraculously mounted a comeback and gotten to keep it for another wager
till our next game then | |

| Don't let bro Duval mislead you. He took home a birdie and a few pars. I've realized that playing with Duval is always a pleasure and a highlight of my golfing escapades. That Saturday was no different To top it all off, I had the opportunity to play with Zhenxua and, boy!!, scary-long is his new name. There's something odd about people who don't take practice swings and then blast drives straight and long. Did I say "odd?" I meant "evil!" Anyway, Zhenxua is the classic gentleman... very cool, composed and always encouraging All in all, poor game for me but the great company made up for all the sorrows and frustrations!! Thanks folks! | |

| TS, Once you say that, the next thing you know would be that ZH would have started a thread call 'Saddam TS' Joke aside, I have to agree with you that playing with ZH is both scary and fun. A superb long hitter and an encouraging flight mate. DS, still got birdie, the ones that I can try that day are the ones around the tee boxes where they flew off when I hit the tee shots.. haha.. I think only Yarra, Ghoonk and Tituman were able to get a number of GIR and looking at birdies. For me, I was more interesting in saving bogeys on most holes... All in all, a good day and like you mentioned, the TCSS after the game was the highligt of the day for me.. | |

| After spending enough time with DS, I think these are the hallmarks of seasoned beginners: Usually he has been playing this game for a while (5-6 yrs minimum) and is faced with a barrier to break 90 or 85, due to various reasons as "self-confessed" lack of talent, strength, time or budget to practice, or due to other phobias etc. His game would go like below: 1. play short but always keep it in the fairway. A repeatable swing is better than flush-duff-slice-flush-thin swing. Swinging less than full is a big clue of SB's swing school! 2. GIR is not relevant, lay up at all times but ..... 3. One chip one putt to frustrate his opponents 4. Putt no more than 33 times a round (see step no.3) 5. Make his birds on par 3s 6. Accept that he will take extra strokes on long par 4s and 5s yet 7. the rest are pars or bogeys 8. last but not least, declare he is a lousy player with all the shortcomings (see Blee2007's post above) Zhenxua/DS, correct?

| golfbeginner has a chance to leapfrog SB phase and go to star division. Just recently started golf, already playing like that. Zhenxua and ChrisD are not the typical SB, coz their game is distance. SB's game is accuracy. Unless they started swinging 3/4 hahahaha Eiji has star division aspirations so he may only convert only after his denial stage passed So it's Techno, Mizzy and I. I am ready to pick water down the creek and bring two buckets up for shifu. Pls teach me one chip one putt | |

Mizzy seems erratic but not surprise if he 'killed silently' both ChrisD and pushslice had long drive, not to be 'trifled with' gb obviously on the rise..

| bro klt, that's bcoz zhenxua (and chrisd) have real distance. If they dont spray, they play more like Alvin than SBs. Remember the first 8 holes in his saddam game? My best drive is still behind Zhenxua's normal drive. the prototypical SB that I have seen is you, ds, asahi, tituman and blee. Steady but safe, dun blow holes, kills with short game and most "humble" with their game. Poresia plays similar, but he's got trophies so he's in the "GR champs" category, alongside Mloy, Coastguy, Slicer51 and MC kekekeke The difference with buaya is if you check the handicap card of SB's: you may see 10-17. Buayas would have 18+ hc | |

| Ok ok, For blee i inferred. so saturday, you were rushed to tee off, no warm up etc and yet still got 2nd best score of the flight. Ghoonk said your ball was side by side titu's most times, and i played with titu | |

Zhenxua/DS, correct? your description applies to DS, blee and possibly titu i guess golffool and klt8144 belong to the super-seasoned category as items 2 and 6 don't apply to them

| super seasoned "beginner" category Then Alvin must be is in there. TFP, MC, Golfchowmk (stories from the grapevine) I almost forget: Birdman is SB! DS, I was just making a guide for other forumers: the tell tale signs of SB. How to identify SB bcoz folks shud not play play with SB. Just by looking at their swing at the first teebox or at the range and you think you can beat SB. Do NOT judge SB based on his seemingly old school equipment, or his graphite shafts or his "humbling experience" posts | |
