Hi all,

I was taught for 7-iron that the ball to be at the centre of your body and as the shaft length gets longer with the longer irons, the ball position will move slightly to the left. Recently, one of my friend's coach told her the total opposite.

which is more common or "right"?

There are 2 schools of thought from what i know.

Ball position Ball2010

Ball position Ball2011

Get your friend to check with the coach, maybe he is getting her in that position for a reason?
It could be part of a drill for her?

Definitely right handed. Only commented because she can't seem to launch the balls and saw that her short irons are all placed to the left of the mid line and after asking she told me the above. The thing is she started her intermediate lesson and her new coach has not commented in that. Perhaps it was her first lesson and the coach was looking at her swing rather than set up. Got her to ask her coach already see the outcome.

I did suspect that too but then..... Let her check out with her new coach.
One thing though, her follow through is good, not sure credit to her old coach or herself. But she did not really like her previous coach.
