Possibly, and here's why

In Singapore, I would need to renew COE on my car after 10 years (ouch)
I have to pay property tax (ouch)
If i have to buy a new car, ouch.

In Dubai, if i buy a 2BR villa (study, living room, garden, 2 bedrooms with on-suite bathrooms, ground floor washroom, laundry room, storeroom) for SGD500k, I will need to renew my visa every 6 months (big deal, I'll just fly around the region and go sightseeing - Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Prague, etc). If I wanted to be frugal, I could just buy a Honda Accord (around SGD35k), get 5 years servicing and parts), drive it 10 years, and then buy another one. Food wise, it's not that expensive if my wife learns to cook

If I wanted to play lots of golf in my twilight years, I can opt for annual membership (around SGD13k per annum) and play all I want on 2 courses. In Singapore, I'm not sure what I'd have to pay -- Raffles is still around SGD40k, which is almost 3 years of annual membership at JGE, not including the monthly subscription fees that are due Sad

My personal choice would be to save up as much as I can from now till I'm 40 or 45, retire in Australia, have a small apartment (1 bedroom) here in Dubai and use this as a holiday hub during the nice winter months, and stay in Australia during the nice winter months, and enjoy nice weather all year around Smile
