| Was wondering if it is illegal to carry a single golf club around in public (like in a cab for instance) enroute to a range to practice....
Thanks, H | |

| Illegal? No. But should not be used in a threatening manner. | |

| as long as u are carrying anything with valid reason, it is legal.
if u carry a parang to kill the chicken at your friend's house later. legal.
if u carry a parang to kill Ah Soon who has been sneaking peeks at your girl friend. illegal.

Its only illegal if you are caught red handed "stroking" the club with one hand while you are driving with the other. Titu

| I remembered in a cab a mth ago, and saw a driver having a 6 iron by the side of his seat. I asked if he use that 6 iron for range practice.
He said that was to protect himself from some bad customers at night. I told him golf clubs are usually weak. The shaft can break easily. He was not very convince, he said he would defent using the club head. Just to scare away people.

| Never heard of it that it will be illegal... dun understand if it is really illegal especially if it is your own car. Why is this heard from , if I may ask ?
If it is from a Taxi driver, perhaps he is just trying to scare off its passenger to push him to place it in the boot.

| From first hand experience with the police officer at immigration, in sg golf clubs are to be kept in the boot in the golf bag, not by your side, no excuses, there is no such thing as self defence in sg.
Only thing you can keep by your side is a steering wheel lock or torch light.
Across the Causeway, that is another story, just as long it's not here in sg. At immigration, customs will give you warning and confiscate the item, on the roads in sg, if caught, trouble...

So wat happens if you really kena mugged and your clubs are in the boot? So wat will the police say? 'Please go to the nearest police station and file in a report. We will investigate further and revert to you shortly...Thank you for your kind understanding'

| my humble 2 cents .. as directed by my Course Marshall ..
it is not illegal to carry your clubs in the confines of your car ... (i have the habit of doing this too). But if you use it for unlawful purposes then it is a different story .. the criminal intention or 'mens rea' will count against you ..
Also the is no such thing as 'no right of self-defense here in Singapore' i am sure some lawyers here can attest to that .

| my friend JB_Low once brought his club along with him to the mrt. A lady thought he was a blind person as he was wearing sunglasses, therefore offered her seat. | |
