| Hi guys, was wondering do you guys encounter difficulties in hitting a 3wood off the range mat without using a tee? I can't seems to hit it consistently when the ball is lying on the mat, seems like my downswing is pretty steep and i tend to hit the ground 1st. However, hitting it on a short tee seems okay. Anyone has a fix to this? Thanks | |

| Bro, I know exactly what you mean. i have the same problem. Personally I find the 3 wood one of the toughest clubs to hit man..sweet spot is super tough to nip consistently (maybe its my skill level also).. coach tells me that I need to catch the ball first b4 contacting the ground in a sweeping motion. picture a broom sweeping motion. once go unto the green when terrain change, upslope, downslope lie etc.. wah shots lagi go haywire.. Its the one club that I shank the ball most, but its a definite beast of a weapon man.. my solution in the end... switch to 3 hybrid, mabbe lose couple metres but hella a lot easier to control and get the ball where i want. Any other bros share my experience? | |

| Yea mate. I still tot the driver was the hardest club to hit all along...
On the contrary, i have seen some uncles who have prob with their driver but are able to hit crisp shot off the mat with their woods. They did it without much effort too! Kudos to them man.

| Maybe u swing steep. For me, swing would be flatter than iron. just like sweeping (as I dun sweep at home, so i dun play 3w well). Also, relax your swing. Dun be too eager to rape the ball and the club. Give it a try see if it works ba. Cun wait for my new 3w to reach sg!!! yeee hee! | |

Hm, I am one of this kinda people! My driver is really damn bad... Practising my driver alot alot everytime I range. In the past, I tee-off with 3w & 2nd shot 3 wood for Par 5. But someone told me if I never have confidence with driver, I will never start using driver. So, I started taking out my driver to practise and use it on course... keke. After few months, driver still so-so oni... haizzz

| Dun worry bro, practise more on the range. You shld be able to get a hang of it quite soon too. I just started golfing for ard 4 mths. After hitting absurd slices and topping how many thousands of balls, I finally see some light in my driver now.. | |

| Same problem here. I find it difficult to hit a 3W off the grass and when I did hit it, I ended up with a fade. Not the greatest of shots.
I also have a G10 Draw 17˚ 4W as an option to my 3W. I'm deciding between the 2. I don't use either very often. I usually just take out my 3H to play which I'm way more comfortable with.

| speaking of 3 wood....when the new callaway diablo tour (with hosel) is launched, make sure you try that.
the tour players already got theirs and i have tried it...square at address and easy to launch. a good alternative to the TM TP titanium.

| hi Gimson
I have the same problem with 3 wood and i finally found a solution to that...
I throw away my 3 wood, bought a hybrid, and it performs like magic..
Ever since, i do not have any FW in my bag, I have 2 hybrid with me, helping me out on the fairway.

Snowman[left] its not easy to launch a 3 wood if you are not committed to the shot, takeaway is key and most of us tend to be too aggressive in that department. however a 4 or 5 wood is a better option and hybrids are a whole lot easier to manage too. DGman
