Actually i am noy even sure what you are upset with. If you are in someone's way, move further. Did you say to him what you said here? Instead of ranting on a forum. I thought my message is simple enough. I can't move further, in a fully-packed driving range, if you walk away, someone will take over the slot. Telling him you will take over his slot? Won't that creates more unnecessary pressure? I am not sure.
I just think that if any golfers can't stand people watching them swing, they should not practice at a public range. It's like saying if I don't like people watching me pee, I should not go to a public toilet.
OK, I see your point, but maybe so many bros here saying things along the same line meant something, that one way is to put your bag there and just let him know you're next politely. Using your analogy, if there is a guy standing behind you in a public toilet, he is waiting for you to finish your business so that he can pee (other slots are fully occupied), would you turn around and tell him that he is in your sight, and it is affecting the quality of your pee? Just joking, but that's what i felt that Jap did to me. Not trying to argue, but if you visit Toa Payoh range, you will know the condition there. The common walkway behind the red line is very narrow. If you walk away, you may not be able to see clearly whether that guy has finished his ball also. I don't like to let people know that i am next, because i thought that gives them more pressure to finish their balls quickly. Besides, should he decides to buy another bucket and continue, i can just walk away.

It's been a while since I came across a packed range with queues for bays. I guess sg golfers are more hardworking than us Johoreans. Based on my observations, i think the key difference between JB and SG is that there are more junior golfers / foreign golfers in SG. There are not many Chinese mainland golfers in the past, but I saw many of them practising at TP yesterday. Furthermore, Queenbay range (also managed by the Poh Brothers) has been closed, so many of the Jap golfers took cabs to TP to practice because the Jap coaches (previously stationed at Queensbay) have also moved to Toa Payoh. So there is a small community of Jap golfers there. There are plenty of Juniors golfers also. Not necessarily more hardworking, but when everyone goes to the range on Sunday, that will be very packed.

| Take the pee analogy to exaggeration, imagine if the guy queuing behind is staring at your counterpart down under while you are doing your business, that wouldn't be comfortable.
Perhaps from all your countless times of queuing for a bay, you finally hit yours odds of meeting the 1 angsty person out of the other 100 that you previously queued behind.
Or even a case whereby a person is already prepared to shout at anyone and you happen to be there at the wrong time. take it as a bad experience and decide how well will you avoid/handle an unpleasant or unjust situation next time

| Don't range. Go to course and play. At first tee: See ball. Hit ball. Buy a jug of beer. Works for me. | |

| Were you standing a bit too close to him for comfort. If you were, it's just like being KS to lose the bay. If not, you could reply and asked him how far you should stay away so that he can be comfortable. | |

| Next time try pack of tissue paper to book the bay. Seems to work everywhere else. Otherwise cough on his downswing. | |

| He could have been more polite or gentle about it. But I can understand how he must have felt. I remember a few rounds ago, one of my friends kept on standing on my right (at address) a distance away just behind the tee box. Very distracting. But after being irritated a few times, I told myself this is good training because sometimes got like 1-2 flights watching you tee off. Very pressuring. So better train for that. Especially since I used to screw up my tee shot on a regular basis, like can't even hit it. | |

| Look at those pros playing. They have hundreds staring at them even more close up at the rough. And no, they dont complain as long as you dont make a sound during their swing. So silence please. So whoever it is at the bay isnt a pro after all. | |

| I personally have no issues with someone standing within my sight.. as long as they do not move or make sudden noise. Want to stand there ok.. but dun move. Imagine taking a back swing and the person move.. subconsciously you are afraid to hit him/her and we humans are trained to track movement. | |

| Range is always full of distraction. People walking around, talking, discussing, sound of hitting balls, sounds of balls dropping into the bucket, sounds of everything (except nature ones)
It is a good training ground to learn to stay focus and ignoring all those distractions.
For that Jap guy, he may be used to his personal range in japan, or he used to be a f**king tua-ki big shot that no one can disturb him. He may even be a CEO or whatever, you never know. But it is rude to shout at people, no matter what others are doing.
The worst distractions that i ever encounter at range ... 2-3 SYT, wearing short skirts, making sound like "wah ... so nice ... so long ... so straight", when their coach is demonstrating to them ...
my mind just wonder off and all other distractions seems to disappear

| Somehow, Japanese golf culture is somewhat different from their courteous behaviour. I was told that some Japanese players dont allow their playing partners to stand on the green while putting. Worse if you are standing behind them while they are sinking their putts. | |

No wonder these Japs always delay play ... I always try to avoid teeing off (at the 1st tee-box) at the flight behind the Japs whilst playing in Malaysia courses. If I see them, I will ask to tee off at the other hole.

Do any brothers or sisters here got this impression that Koreans are the slowest players on the golf course? Not all of them but a huge majority of them know nuts about etiquette and at times can be very aggressive in hitting the ball very very near you or basically play super slow till 2 flights were waiting at the tee box for them. When I was playing in Indonesia and China, I asked the caddies which group of people play the slowest. Their answers without a pause: " koreans! or han guo ren!" any one got the same experience? Cheers
