| What is your practice sequence at the range? Is there a fixed routine you do, or practice at random? I warm up with the "P" about 10 balls and "7" about 10 balls with rest in between every 5 balls. After that is 5 balls each for Driver, Fairway, Hybrids (3 or 4), Irons (7, 8 or 9) and "P" in that sequence. Prob 3 sets of it. Warming down is another 10 balls with the "P" Care to share your routine? | |

| Same as kian, I hit at close targets eg 30m, 50m, 70m, 100m. Keep hitting sets of 10 balls until at least 6 land quiet close. Target can be distance marker, drainage hole, flags, distinct mounds, dry patch etc. I bring my bushnell to measure the actual m. Unlike tronos, I don't hit driver on the range, hate hitting off rubber tee. The only time I hit driver is on the course Used to go turf city just to hit driver with real tee, after 20 balls I was usually bored. Not a driving fan, I guess. I try following my pre shot routine. Can be quite tedious but i must do it so it becomes natural on the course. This doesn't apply during SSN, there I'm only interested in trying other bros' clubs and tcss | |

| LOL u can see the better players and the weekend hackers by their practice sequence.....
btw my driver is the worst part of my game so it driver all the way!!!!!!!!!! cause i seldom range (once every month or 2 months cause no time) and play on the course more.....
A poor drive results in lots of penalty strokes from OB and poor 2nd shots from rough etc (no matter how good ur irons is, it will never be good enough to hit accurately from a bad position)
Unless you can drive reasonable well (at least 1/2 fairway hits and zero OBs/Water), i think one should concentrate on the driver first before thinking about the accurate irons.....unless of course u cannot even hit the irons.
when u get bored of the driver (meaning its almost always straight and down the middle) then its time for the short game...
played with bad and middle players...all are below avg/bad drivers of the ball.......the better/good players i played with always have a good drive. The ones that have the most birdie / eagle chance..all terrific drivers.
So what i think is a decent driver...200m at least, 1 OB max per game, minimum 50% fairway, 0.0000001% chance of not hitting pass the red tee..all when not trying to kill the ball.
so u know who the hackers are and who the better players are...

| Always try to end with a basket of balls to practice 5-10m chips, flops to work on the small muscles | |

| I've also cone to realize many good players in Sg don't even Bother to go to the range .. They seem to spend more time bartering for strokes | |

| I try to practice once a week in the range in order to maintain swing and techniques. I am also lucky to have a practice putting area just outside my house.
Playing in the green is a good to have at this point in time.

Playing in the green is a good to have at this point in time. My few cents and spare change of thoughts. 1. Grab a beer, lay your golf bags and wear your golf shoes. 2. Open that beer while you are still holding in your hands. 3. Drink half. put it down. 3a. Understand why you are at the driving range (objectives: short game, distance practice or accuracy) 3b. Wear your golf gloves, and finish up the beer. 4. Assuming you have the practice balls. (Warm up with short irons, P to 7 iron)10-15 balls 5. Put rubber tee, and practice driver and > iron 5. 20 balls 6. Take a break, see how your neighbors are doing. 7. Focus on the area you need to change. 150 balls minimum. (you will break out a sweat) 8. Warm down, chipping < 50m. 9. Go home, do ironing and housework. This works very well for me. I improve on the areas i have weakness on and gain confidence after 150 balls. If i feel that I did not get what i wanted, i will come again and improve 2 days later. This greatly improves my confidence in the golf course knowing that I have worked on my overall game and have a specific work out on my weak areas. Now, assuming you are bad in all areas, have a work-plan to work on 1 area and improve to go along. (this will take time, but you will improve). If you go into the course having thinking you are bad in all areas, you will have a bad outing. ^^

| My worry is after s/no 3, I may jump to 3b and keep repeating 3 and 3b....
Good to set training objectives for each session, I am happy to be around friends, balls and beer...
Cheers. | |

Cheers. LOL.. Sometimes i jio people for range, drink beer and watch other people practice. (yup! i buy balls and nuah) Then again, it's important to balance a sense of humour, always learning from others and have fun. This attitude will make you alot of friends, they will in-turn, encourage you, tell u potential small problems. (but verify with a coach on your own abilities) But at the end of it all, it's important to get a coach to be mentored under. Learning the basics ground up is VERY important. Grip, posture, chin-up etc. why i say 150 balls in focus training, is because it will get your muscle to think likewise. I once received an awakening after 5 years of golf. He says, all your basics are wrong. I almost fainted. Learn to accept and change. (this is the journey of golf)

| Yup, am being coached currently. So far so good, and I need to go back routinely for follow up session even though I am done with the official lessons.
It's the company that I like to be around with.
