| Dear GRians,
Considering that the TM SLDR mini driver is sold out almost everywhere.... What do the GRians who have it think of the club?
For starters, I picked mine up two days ago and have had two sessions at the range with and it's now my favourite club in the bag.
I have mine in 14 degrees loft and typically hit my 3 wood off the deck abt 210-220 yards (measured using Swing Caddie launch monitor) and after some warm up, I am getting distances of 230 to 240 yards with the mini... My old 3 wood is the Nike VRS Covert Tour set at 15 degrees loft. It was pretty easy to launch the ball off the deck with the mini for me. Had some occasional slices but workability for a fade was pretty good.
Off the tee, it was easy getting distances of around 230 to 240 yards as well... Ball flight was straight, unlike my driver which tend to have a slight draw in flight...
Overall, I would say that the mini driver is a great club for those who struggle with driver consistency and are solid hitters with the fairway woods. I got the last piece from. Golf Direct for $299 and I would say its a good buy for me.
P.S. I got a feeling that when GD restocked this baby, the price will drop again, standard for all TM clubs... Maybe then I'll pick up another 12 degrees?

| are you replacing your driver with the mini driver? was contemplating on the need to get one... but you are right, would wait for the price to drop further before getting it from GD. | |

| Yes I am toying with that idea... It's a useful club to have imho... I can choose to ditch my driver and 3 wood for an extra wedge... Or simply just carry less clubs cos the mini driver functions as a sort of hybrid between the driver and 3 wood? | |

| I have the 1-16 which I think is the most dependable club in my bag. I bought it when my driver is not working well but ever since the driver started working again I seldom hit this. The reason is that it seems too long for a layup club. I also don't particularly hit it well off the turf. Its still in the bag but seldom used. | |

| Actually, what's the different between using this "mini driver" and 3 wood?? I feel it's more of marketing gimmick? | |

| Try it and u'll know the difference?
I tried the standard SLDR S 3 wood and the mini driver side by side today... The mini driver is consistently 10 yards longer? Probably due to the 0.5 inch longer shaft? But it has a much deeper face and the volume is also larger... 260cc...

| I'm curious. Isn't 14 loft just a strong 3w? Is it shaped like a fairway wood? Please also share your experience on distance compared with the driver. | |

| Compared to my driver, I am losing abt 10 to 20 yards but the mini is more consistent in terms of dispersion.
The mini is shaped like a smaller driver. It's loft is a strong 3w loft but with a strong 3w loft (RBZ Tour Spoon), I dun get the distance, it goes about the same distance as my 3w... Dunno why.. Maybe it's my swing?
I am just sharing my experience here and am not affiliated to TM in any way.

| I think the main draw of the mini driver is that it has a large enough head for you to tee off with confidence. I think 3 wood is better off fairways still but the mini driver gets you almost driver distances. | |

Think they might have at TPY range? The TMaG store guys told me that it's sold out in all their outlets and stocks coming in end September/early October...

| Tested the mini 12 and 14 deg at TYP range yesterday. Needless to say, 14 is much easier to handle. Easier to hit off the deck than the conventional 3w. However, the distance I got from it didn't meet my expectation. Overall, it's quite a nice club even tho the price for now is still quite steep. | |

| Perhaps, I would imagine fitting it with the right shaft will be quite sweet | |
