| Hi,
Any advise on how do i hit the ball out of the sandbunkers in MBGC? I opened my sandwedge club face....the ball could never bounce up, it will just hit the wall and bounce back, could easily hit my head..
Below is what i was told to do. 1) Pick and throw the ball out 2) Swing it back where the lowest wall is located. 3) Try not to get your balls into the sand bunkers
Any other advise.
Lady golfer here.
Thanks !

| always play towards the lower lip even if its sidewards or backwards. if ball is too near wall then take a penalty drop. | |

| If the ball is near the bunker wall, you can forget about hitting towards the target direction ... You either hit sideway (if possible) or take a penalty drop ... | |

| Actually, jengyee play white tee lor, confirmed cannot go into bunkers....if still go inside shift back to blue, if still cannot go to black and if black still cannot don't play mbgc like bro pocketace suggested. | |

Second bro Poresia. You can try to avoid the bunkers by playing away from the fairway bunkers or making a conscientious effort to enter them by playing smart. Of course i do understand it is tough to exactly control where you want the ball to land especially for ppl like me weekend hackers. But i must say that playing smart eg. going for lay-ups, hitting away from the bunkers(going right when bunker is on the left) or playing out from the lower end of the bunkers (even if it means going back) can help you enjoy your game more. Just my 2 cents.

| the thing about mbgc is that the reaaally deep bunkers are on the fairway, not so much around the greens. so when i'm in a deep fairway bunker, i almost always opt for option (2) - play towards the lower lip. The question here is really a balance between risk and reward - is the risk worth the reward? Risk: high chance of staying stuck in the bunker if u fail to get over the high lip Reward: advancing nearer the pin by 20m if you pull it off In this case, good course management would dictate that you take your medicine and just hit it out sideways or even backwards. the other thing you can consider is (i) getting a lob wedge - ie 58* - 60* in loft; (ii) see a pro to improve your bunker technique.

| Hit in the direction of the lowest lip to clear.
That's the easiest way out.

| just a humble opinion from a social golfer: if aim fairway, ball somehow go bunker.... if aim bunker, ball somehow go fairway... so in mbgc.... i just aim bunker cos i social golfer only.... its not a myth.... it actually work | |

JY Hi JY, Unfortunately, bunker play is part and parcel of the game of golf which we don't get to practise much. Maybe for your next game at MBGC, you can practise before your game, at the bunker practise area near the chipping greens, to get a feel of the sand. I find that it helps me because unlike iron shots, I can't get to take a practise swing for a bunker shot. --Yann

Personally i m w bro Scottycollector. Just need to swallow our ergo n had it play back thru the lower lip or take a penalty.

| According to the MBGC website, they are there for our enjoyment:
"... its 91 pot bunkers. These bunkers not only serve as one of our dramatic features, they are also geared to provide hours of challenges and excitement to golfers."

| Actually, there is, for your flight mates who are sadistically enjoying the sight of us trying to escape from one.
Some good advice here though, first is course management to avoid the bunkers like the plague, failing which, take your medicine.
One stroke out sideways or even backwards is still better than being in the bunker after 4 or 5 strokes trying to move forward.

| on a serious note....
its not easy for a social lady golfer to blast out from the sand....
cos they might not generate enough speed with whatever wedges....
if u are using steel shaft in your wedges.... pls consider changing to graphite
it just might, just might hor, make it easier from the sand...
