| Bunkers in mbgc are real killers to my score. Any tip on how to survive them other than not getting into one or hitting backward? | |

| Use the highest lofted wedge in your bag, open clubface, open stance, quickly hinge your wrist and take an upright plane as you takeaway ... and hit down on the ball (pray hard that you would clear the high lip of the bunker before you pull the trigger ) ... No need to hit one inch behind the ball as it is not a greenside bunker. You can forget about attacking the pin with finesse and think "rescue" instead. It is like doing a flop shot in a bunker. If the ball landed very near the bunker wall, it is almost impossible to hit it out in the direction of the target. You cannot even hit backward as you have no space to manoeuvre the club. You may have to hit sideway in this situation ... Good luck!

| The most important rule in playing at mbgc is Play away from the bunkers... It has been done by many bros before and I have seen many good games if you following this rule... Otherwise, at least 1 extra stroke is almost guaranteed.. | |

| Thanks guys for all the tips. 64 deg wedge and playing away from bunker (to the extent I can control it) would be order of the day. Remember have fun with the sand only when u are at the beach, on golf courses esp mbgc, avoid both sand and water. Haha | |

| Due to very little OB zone, therefore bunkers are the penalty zone for all players. In order to play well in MBGC, you can treat bunker as water or OB zone. So that you can play safe shots whenever the target is surounded with bunkers. | |

| I use a dig-in stance where I lean to the left . how much to open the club face and how much sand to take depend on the height of the bunker n distance to the pin | |

| So far, I have learned 3 things about my golf. 1. Aim for fairway, ball not in fairway 2. Aim for green, most times ball not on green 3. Aim for hazards (bunker, water, trees, bushes), most likely ball in hazards!
May be best solution is lay up! Haha, conservatism at its best...

| Very wise esp u r in serious competition. For the love of golf, to have a laugh n many lost ballz, there is wisdom in the saying " i didnt wake up so early in the morning to come here and lay up ! " | |

| Why bother to hit them out from the highest and difficult place in the bunker? The most you can get is 5-10m (if hit a perfect shot). Hit sideway or backwards is still the best to reduce strokes.
Or use the golf rules to your advantage, once you see ball in bunker, declare unplayable and play another ball from last location. (For those got problem with bunker)

| Hi all just to share rule 28 ball unplayable
The player may deem his ball unplayable at any place on the course, except when the ball is in a water hazard. The player is the sole judge as to whether his ball is unplayable. If the player deems his ball to be unplayable, he must, under penalty of one stroke: a. Proceed under the stroke and distance provision of Rule 27-1 by playing a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5); or b. Drop a ball behind the point where the ball lay, keeping that point directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind that point the ball may be dropped; or c. Drop a ball within two club-lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole. If the unplayable ball is in a bunker, the player may proceed under Clause a, b or c. If he elects to proceed under Clause b or c, a ball must be dropped in thebunker. When proceeding under this Rule, the player may lift and clean his ball orsubstitute a ball.
if you read, you can play the ball at the original location, meaning, if you tee oof the ball and gone into the bunker, you can choose to call for ball unplayable take one stroke penalty and tee off the ball again. This rule is useful when you chip your ball into the bunker, you can choose to call unplayable and replace the ball as near to the last location known where the ball is, take one stroke penalty.

| Fantastic. Thanks for sharing. Wonder why there haven't been as many golfers taking advantage of this rule. Is unplayable self declared or does it have to be agreed with the official or your flight mates? | |

The player is the sole judge if the ball is unplayable or not, but you must declare to your opponents (flight mates). Usually those players who are good in bunkers will not declare unplayable becos it is distance and stroke penalty. It will be good for those who are not so good with bunkers, usually take 2-3 strokes out of bunkers.

| i rem tiger using this rule before:
he putted off the green into a bunker; instead of trying to get up and down from the bunker, he declared unplayable and putted again.

| Played at mbgc yesterday. Took Tigercrab advice, carried a 64 degree - life saver. Oddly enough, didn't take advantage of the unplayable rule. Felt satisfied to see the ball climbing out of bunkers the way they did! | |
