newbie question

Hi all, as mentioned in the title, my question wil sounds kind of stupid for all the pros. But as old people always said: better ask than lost the way.

My question is, those numbers in driving ranges, are they in meters or yards?
Particularly toa payoh range where I normally practices.

Most driving ranges distant makers are set in meters, very likely TPY is also the same.

I am very sure that TPY range is in metres.

singapore mostly use metres right? but for some reason i still see some bros using yards on forums. bit confusing. can ask why?

Singapore golf courses all using meters, it's a Singapore Government policy to use metrics. All ranges also use meters.

However all PGA Tour are using yards... which is why sometimes we discuss in yards in relation to PGA Tour.

1 yard is 0.9m. So.... Not much diff

they r in metres but not sure if the distance is correct. u can confirm it with a range finder.

range balls r also lower in compression so they cant fly as far as normal golf balls.

I dunno why he dont reset his Bushnell to measure in meters (can be done right?) I suspect deep down he think like a PGA pro... All in yards 

Yards or metres doesn't matter in range. What's confusing is in JB some courses in yards some in metres...

after been questioned over n over again for setting my rangefinder in yards, I finally reset it in metres.

maybe due to my 7 years playing in poresia whose yardage indicators are in yards, I still prefer yards!

Haha... probably champion think differently...

I believe his clubs distance are calibrated in yards which makes him easy to decide which clubs to use.

It makes a big difference mate - when the distance you are playing is longer, say 200 metres (220 yards), this is a 20 yard difference and therefore you would require a different club selection.

Plan to test the distance of my two drivers. 
Any idea which range can use actual Wooden Tee for driver? (turf city Start Golf is closed)

Been to range but somehow feel that the rubber tee kind of "resisted" the drive. Have try the other type of tee look like actual tee but also dont feel "good".

At range i also feel that i cant really whack the ball cos there always a golfer behind me. Just feel that i might "hit" him.

you can buy a rubber tee which is very short with slits (designed for your specific requirement), you can insert your normal tee into the rubber tee and place your ball on top of your choice of tee. I will try to take a pic when I get home and show you what it looks like. bring lots of tees as they will break, fly off, etc. I got the tee from Toa Payoh Driving Range's pro shop. Not sure where else you can get them from.

I think go whack on trackman or GC2 better. plenty of places have it. Coz for people like me, the other important factor is the inconsistency in swing so the distance all bo sio xiang one.

Using tees at the range night hurt people coz people are in close proximity and the tees sometimes do fly quite a distance. In anycase, I think the friction from the rubber tees are negligible, unless you hit the tee first . . hmm  . . quite impossible also.

Also, I think impossible to hit anyone unless your club fly out of your hand la (which I see before, but fly forward onto the range area)
