| Background: I am a beginner and have only been playing for maybe half a year.
Yesterday I was meeting a friend in Suntec and was too early, so I stepped into Golf House. Didn't have anything to buy in mind and was just browsing. And I came across the Titleist area.
There was an uncle sales staff (didn't take notice of name) and I just asked him how come the 913d2 got $1250 and got $800 so big difference.
He say, 1 the shaft for pro, 1 for normal players. I took the cheaper one out to take a look at it at address.
Him: "You must be beginner. I see u grip I know already" Me: "............................"
Him: "You buy now la. 1st customer for today. I give you discount" Me: "But how I know which shaft suits me?" Him: "This one la. This one beginner ok"
I was staring past him which has a big logo saying "AUTHORIZED CUSTOM FITTER FOR TITLEIST"
Me: "No need to test one meh?" Him: "No need la, test for what, this one for you OK. You buy now I give you discount, want or not?" Me: "But later buy the shaft don't suit me how?" Him: "How long you drive?" Me: "about 150m - 170m?"
Him: Sigh and shakes head "tsk tsk tsk not good enough" Me: Pass him the driver and walks off.
Seriously, why is there such prejudice against beginners?! They have now earned 1x boycott from an enthusiastic beginner forever!!!

Also they normally give 20-30% off. I think GD selling only $540 for the so call normal shaft, the BB is abt $800 after discount.

| Go and buy some light weight burners for a start. Used ones... Don't bother with others till you swing consistently. The head light burners makes it easier to cast and square your club head. | |

| It lools like Golf House sales staffs are not well trained ... It does not matter if the staff don't play golf but he must at least be able to handle customers tactfully and must stay courteous at all times ...
GD is selling the 913 driver with normal shaft at $530 ... Most retailers at FESC selling around $530 - 550.

The one you prolly saw was a 910D2, bro ... unless it is damn old and need to sell at $350 ... Adam Scott is using a 913D3 ... Yes, he drove well during the PGA Championship so far ...

U can call to reserve it for one day or so ... Juz leave your name and contact details over the phone ... $350 is a reasonable price for a 913D driver provided that it is in good working condition ... For me, I am quite fussy and I can't stand sky-marks ...

| from a business owner perspective, its tough to find sales person, let alone good sales person...i am sure its not easy for the retailers in our market.
when a company is run by people without a service mission or passion, this is what happens. the only ones that will survive in the long run are the big box retailers and the internet fulfilment companies and to a certain extend those who are prepared to make the former, allies instead of competitors.

| Honestly, how often do you encounter sales staff employed in golf retail outlets who are knowledgeable and sincere in their service delivery ~ what matters most is the numbers / quota they need to hit to justify their existence with the establishment. I hate to profile individuals in this profession but unfortunately that's how these individuals choose to go about in their employment....... The other famous one-liner would be "Tiger Woods using this, you know......" Seems like they forgot the fact that there's only one TW on this planet and he's not exactly done well in the last 3 Majors nor the current one....... | |

Khorkar, cannot la, I dunno how to lie leh. Later he really bring me go inside the fitting place I paiseh! Actually nowadays gh fitting services almost non existence. Also bad service does not applied to gh only many golf shops also give sucky services. But like someone suggested why not get a second driver since you are a beginner. If u really wanna new club, go golf bargain. They have some past seasons Callaway and Cleveland selling cheap cheap from $99 to $199.

Seriously, why is there such prejudice against beginners?! They have now earned 1x boycott from an enthusiastic beginner forever!!! toonified I hope this experience would do only one thing, and that's to spur you to learn and play better golf.. I was once told by a well known club fitter i'm such an inconsistent golfer and he wasn't really interested in fitting me... (would I be talking to him if i'm consistent? I would be playing pro isn't it..) Got myself fitted with another fitter and I'm enjoying my golf... Also just to share, there are many good stuff selling in this forum every other day.. There are many teaching Pros, fitters and good players too.. Feel free to post and ask cos thats what this forum is about... All the best !

| Guys, it's not golf house. It's the sales person. I used to work in the Millenia Walk area, so I had 2 golf houses to choose from. I found that the folks working in the Marina Square outlet were friendly and accommodating and never gave me any bad attitude. BUT I never felt comfortable with the sales people in the Suntec outlet, so I stay away from that outlet if I can help it. | |
