| I am a member of JGCC (old name RJCC) and would like to clarify some of the points raised. In JGCC, caddy is compulsory. You can hire a trolley from the club only if there is no caddy available (do this only if you are fit like a commando. Otherwise, the hilly terrain will get you!). Due to shortage of caddies, sometimes the caddy master will arrange for the caddy to carry two bags. The caddy fee set by the club is RM40 per bag for 18 holes and this is paid directly by the golfer to the caddy. Tips are optional. The green fee that you pay to the club DOES NOT cover caddy fee. What you pay the caddy is what he gets. So tipping above the RM40 is expected. Regular members usually give between RM50 to RM60 and for the big betters, it is not unusual for them to give RM100. This is unlike Horizon Hill where I believe the caddies are paid a salary or given a share from the green fee. So bear in mind when tipping. Be aware that some caddies may take advantage of "outsiders" and hustle them for higher tips but its up to you. Cheers! | |

| I enjoy caddies...take em whenever I can regardless of where I play. Partly because it was how I was introduced to the game in New England. Some are good, some are not. Unfortunately if you are visitor and not a member or frequent player at a facility it is luck of the draw.
I look at is as an opportunity to help someone out that is helping make my life a little easier around the course that day. If they give me great advice and are good they will get a far better tip. If they are ok and still learning they still will get a good tip but most likely less than the more experienced caddy. That is just how it goes. I learned the hard way to be a better caddy and earn more money....
At the end of the day I think it is pretty cool that you are able to take a caddy here for as inexpensive as it is relative to other places I have played. Enjoy the experience and help out someone who most likely has a much harder road ahead than most who play the game.

I played in RJCC perhaps 3-4 times and it has been 50 RM tip or the caddies and they were pretty cool about it until the last game that I played. I had a younger caddy than the usual fare and he was pretty fit. He carried two bags and at the end of the 18 holes, I passed to him the RM50 and he asked me for another RM20 more saying that its compulsory to tip them more. So I said no and moved on.... and after I came back home, I looked at my wallet and realized one S$50 note was missing. Its bad enough he trid to hustle me , he stole the money from my wallet. I am not gonna kick a big fuss over $50.. so moving on.. its just money.. Please learn from my episode and not put any cash or valuables in ur bag when you play.
