| Scotty lovers,
What are your thoughts on the best Scotty putter out there? I'm not referring to those circle T ones. Just the ones which are available on retail. Any ideas?
I've only ever tried and owned the Studio Select Newport 2 and now the Circa 62 #1. I quite like the feel of the latter. It's soft.
Wondered what the other Scotty owners would have to say?

| I have the 2012 Monterey, it feels a tad softer than the Newport 2 (tried only the non-black ones).
At address, the Monterey does need a little getting used to with the slightly curved sole. The Newports that I've tried have a flat base so I know where to position myself...but once you get past that, a good-contact putt feels really soft, even softer than some of the soft-insert putters that I've used.
The stock Pistolero grip feels very solid on hold. Helps with the confidence :-).
I'm a blade and plumbing neck guy, so can't really comment about the non-blade scotty...

| Sorry TS to hijack your thread. Is there any store in Singapore to allow me to try all different type of scotty putter before deciding which one to purchase?
Currently using PING Anser but not much feel or love with it. AM looking at a half mallet or full mallet scotty putter.
Thanks for your inputs.

| Good feedback, bro.
I too liked the Monterey. But I was more inclined towards the Coronado. There's something about that look which makes the putter v sexy looking.
I'm not sure how much softer the Monterey is as compared with the SS. But, it does look more pleasant.

Thanks for your inputs. Most Golf Houses stock a wide range of Scotty putters.

Yes, but all of them only carry the newer series, also looking at the previous model. Cheers

| I think it really depends on the style of putter you are looking for.
High MOI, Anser style, etc.
There are a good amount of options to choose from in each of the head styles.

| I saw Eiji's Scotty Golo putter yesterday. Looks big but effective. I love the black sheen. | |

| What's is best? Many people still using the platinum series out there.
IMHO, it's which one you are the most comfortable with.

| Bro.. dun think there's such a thing as the best putter as its a very personal club. What works for others might not work for u.
A fren of mine told me that he feels that scotty putters are overpriced and over-rated, and i kinda agree with him now.
I had a very old Studio Design 1.5 which i had been using since 2000.
After my clubs got stolen. I had a chance to rebuild my set and tried many putters and took me awhile b4 i bot one. Wanted a Scotty but too pricey and didn't seem to find one that i felt comfy with, and i tried almost every scotty model. I personally prefer the del mar shape. Tried the newer and older scotty del mars compared to some other brands like Zen and Odyssey and a YES putter which i liked alot. but too ex. Zen was too ex also. and Odyssey was on sale at golf direct for $129. Scotty was gg for $400+.
Anyway.. told myself dun see price or brand, but see performance. the Odyssey White Ice No.9 was my final choice. I never really did like putters with inserts. But this one just feels awesome to me.

I'm not sure how much softer the Monterey is as compared with the SS. But, it does look more pleasant. Perhaps it's the honey-dipped finish? Personally I think it's nice, but the though that look wearing out after some time pains the heart I was split between the 2011 SS and 2012 Monterey...in the end it was (of all things) the grip that sealed the deal. There's really something about the Pistolero grip that instils confidence. One can argue to install a Tiger Shark on the Scotty, but too bad I'm not a fatty grip guy :-)

Cheers From time to time, Vinc Golf @ FESC does carry used SCs. You can check them out. But IMO, difference not much. At least the technical specs are all the same. It boils down to a matter of how much you like the looks. I personally prefer silver putters. I understand the rationale for black putters, but the look doesn't really do it for me...

| @abadan: I do agree. Putting is probably one of the most (if not the most) personal club in the golfer's bag. Just wanted to know what other Scotty users thought. | |

| I have had two of them in the past. Great feel and if you like the Anser look it is pretty great.
One of the few off the rack Scotty putters that had the sound slot. From what I recall the tour issued version of Duval's putter had the sound slot cut by Scotty into his anser to help change the sound and hence the feel.
I think DGman has one in his Scotty collection you can take a peek at.

Care to share where did you manage to try all the Scotty putter when you are rebuilding your set?
