| Hi bro, just echoing what some of the senior GRians are saying - "It's more about the quality of practice rather than the quantity of practice" | |

- hi all..
am wondering if you have a usual practice routine at driving range? say start with a particular iron? hit X no. of balls, change to another club? or randomly just hit what you feel like it? I normally start with my most favorite club which is my 52 deg wedge which i know i can hit swee swee. Instead of pouring my whole bucket of balls out onto the tray, i scoop out about 4 balls which i hit to the 75 metre mark. If satisfied, i will move to the 8 iron and hit another 5 shots. I then alternate between mid/long irons and pitching not hitting more than 5 shots for each unless im not satisfied (will scoop out more balls). When i scoop the balls, i have to move back into my position and realign myself (help with realignment routine). Target is to hit 3 good shots out of 5 lah then i move on. This is to break the boredom. My one bucket of balls usually last an hour as i really take my time. Anyone else have this scooping of balls out routine instead of pouring it out? I realise this way I have a better sense of where i need to improve. If not, i will take each shot for granted as I will always think that i have all these balls in my tray and not focus.

I did e abv if I bring my cart bag. Usually I brought 3 or 4 clubs per session of 90 balls. PW 7 5 & (19H or 21H) or PW 8 6 4 3W. Same routine each visit.

| I only started playing golf about a month ago, 29/9/12 to be exact. I got hooked to the game. I practice twice a week, 90 balls per session. I also frequent Punggol. | |

breaking 100: if u bogey every hole, thats a 90 score, think if one manage his/her game well, it should be attainable within a year, most strokes are lost in 2 main areas......
1) penalty strokes ie OB, hazard, lost ball etc 2) in/around the greens
if one play around the hazard n keep the ball in play most times, i dun see how it cant be attained.
as mentioned previously, analyse the course, not all par3s are 180m, par4s are 400m n par5 500m, thus from white tees, just play smart n be realistic about your level of play, there are many ways to play bogey, sometimes a couple of double bogeys is alrite, as long as one keeps away from triple or worse, breaking 100 is very possible.......
for example; par 4 320m, bunker at 210-220m left n right, take 3w/5w n play abt 190m/200m, only left 120-130m to the green, no reason to cheong driver, if not a wood person, then play 5i to 150m, follow by 6i to abt 20-30m away from the green, away from greenside bunkers, hit those high percentage shots, dun need to cheong for GIR, chip on green n 2 putted for bogey, if most holes bogey follow by couple of double, then how not to break 100.......jmho
gonna spent 4-5hrs on the course, why get frustrated, work is already frustrating, so just enjoy the walk n company of friends........ u can be frustrated at the range, but once on the course, a wise old man said to me "why pay n be frustrated, so stupid"
I'm very glad I have found this site. Great tip!
