Yearly basis and it cost about sg60 a year. You can get them from NTUC.

golf insurance is a yearly contract... covers things like accidents, loss of equipment etc
any of the big boys like AIA shd be able to cover u... some places where u maintain ur handicap will also cover u... some golf courses in JB will also make u pay few RM to buy insurance per game

Everyone needs to pay attention on the course. Bad shots will be hit and idiots will continue to walk blindly onto your fairway. Sometimes the tee off of the next hole is within striking distance of your tee off esp par 3s and ppl there shd also be attentive cos on a bad hair day you might just slice the ball to their direction. Shouting fore is about the only thing u can do after u hv shot the ball in their direction. If everyone pays attention, there is little chance of getting hit.

benefits of golf insurance after hitting someone read : http://www.golfinsurance.co.uk/golfer-sued-after-not-shouting-qforeq.html

Insurance is not for yourself, it's more for covering the club equipment like buggy or 3rd party just in case you get into an accident.

HIO is 50% skill 50% luck.......all you need is very lucky that day......I met some very good golfers, playing around low 10 hcp, for many years, they never had HIO before. They told me, many times roll around hole or tap in distance but just does not drop.

Important thing is to make sure the front flight has cleared before you hit your shot. If you are in doubt, then it is better to wait. Prevention is better than cure. If it is a wayward shot, then please shout FORE two to three times as loud as you can and always assume that you may hit someone.

Well the thing is some people are quite agressive on this, even FORE was shouted so loudly, when u walk to the ball they still can accuse you of not shouting and some even swear at you. Sad . I thought golf is suppose to be a gentleman game.

Interesting article.. not sure if it applies to Singapore and JB?

Fore-get it! Judge rules golfers are not obliged to warn fellow players of wayward shots

Hitting someone on course - Page 2 Article-1340857-0062EC4100000258-721_233x394 Golfers can ignore the etiquette of shouting 'fore', a U.S. court has ruled (posed by model).

Bad golfers who shank balls can ignore the proper course etiquette of yelling 'fore', according to a ruling in the U.S. The case was brought by Dr Azad Anand, who was struck in the eye by a wayward shot during a 2002 Long Island golf game with his friend Dr Anoop Kapoor. Anand claimed his injury was caused by Kapoor failing to yell 'fore' or a similar courtesy warning for an oncoming shot.

But the New York State Court of Appeals, upholding lower court rulings, unanimously ruled that Kapoor was not at fault.

'A person who chooses to participate in a sport or recreational activity consents to certain risks that are inherent in and arise out of the nature of the sport generally and flow from such participation,' the court wrote.mAnand was looking for his own ball on the golf course when Kapoor teed off without warning, struck him in the left eye and detached his retina, according to the suit. Anand said he suffered a permanent loss of vision. Earlier this year, the New Hampshire Supreme Court ruled against a golfer who sued a golf course after he was struck in the eye. The court said the golf course had no duty to protect the golfer against the risks of playing the game.

Whilst "interesting", I reckon nobody playing golf in the right frame of mind would wanna intentionally harm anybody else, then quote this judgement from the USA... White Flag

I cannot emphasise enough the use of common sense. If you see someone within distance-shot in your front, better wait till they're clear

If you unwittingly spray your shot beyond your intended line, then shouting 'Fore' to warn others will help make this game a bit safer for everyone to enjoy. Btw, it's ok to hit poor shots, that's life Beer

Sometimes it is headwind when you shout 'Fore' and when you drive up to apologise, the victim may still accuse you of not shouting / warning, because they couldn't hear your warning shouts.

The best reaction (for me at least) is to apologise first and foremost, then explain that the victim couldn't hear is because it's probably headwind, not the other way around.

The worst reaction (again, for me at least) is to go into defensive and say," I shouted - Fore, already mah! Why? Still Not happy ah?" then the recent Kranji incident will recur... Stretcher

I always put myself in the shoes of the victim. If balls started raining down on me on course, I'll be freaking out naturally... So, chill out and play sensible golf folks.
