I always go HCMC because I find that place very nice. Please update me on the new golf course. Might want to go with my friend to play as well. We can meet up and lets play together.

I have not played there yet but from what I have heard, it is a buggy course, and the course is tight and narrow.

Hi Winston,
I shall be moving the family from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh over the summer break. My wife and I are teachers and we shall be Working at the International School of Ho Chi Minh. I have very little knowledge of HCM but have been told we will probably be living in or near to district 7.
Hopefully we can meet up and play a round or two..

Regards
Brendan

Hi Brendan,

Sorry for the late reply as I dont check this thread regularly. District 7 is quite a nice place to stay for a family. Pretty self contained environment. Meeting up is not an issue. Let me know if I can help you with any information. Drop me a PM if you want to .

A quick update for those planning a trip up to Danang

Laguna Lang Co

http://www.lagunalangco.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Rates-Structure-Aug-13-USD.pdf

Danang Golf

http://www.dananggolfclub.com/golf-course/rate-booking.html

Monty Links

http://www.montgomerielinks.com/the-golf-course/packages/list/
http://www.montgomerielinks.com/the-golf-course/the-course/rates/

For easy conversion, SGD$100 = VND 1.7mil

Danang and Monty links MUST use buggy. the distance between the tee boxes are quite a distance. And I also hear that there are many chinese golfers playing on the weekend now..

Song Be is the 2nd oldest club in HCMC.

The Oldest is VGCC...

If you can afford the time to travel. Can try Long Thanh

FYI for all those coming up to HCMC for golf.

The weather has been very cranky lately. Just recently had a wash-out and had to stop the game

PostSubject: Re: My golfing adventures in Vietnam   My golfing adventures in Vietnam - Page 7 I_icon_minitimeSat Jul 13, 2013 8:43 pm

Went to play golf recently at the newest course in HCMC. It is called Royal Island Golf (Mekong Golf & Villas) http://mekonggolf.com/

It is aprox 1.5 hours away from the city centre and it is one of the worst courses to play!!! Let me explain why.

1. The fairways are very close together. In some holes, less than 2m of rough seperates the fairways. When you see the caddies wear helmets (Issued by the management) to wear over their hats, its a worrying sight.

2. It is a buggy on track course. NO WALKING.

3. This is the first ever golf course i played in that has no OB because on EVERY HOLE, WATER COMES INTO PLAY!!!!!!!!!! it is either goes on both sides, across or the back. Making it challenging and intresting is one thing, but this is TOO MUCH

4. Greens are horrible. very similar to Links sytle course. but so much harder to putt due to the fact that coring of the greens was done wrongly.

5. Rough is like PGA standard. Ball goes in, is like finding a needle in the haystack.

6. Due to lack of space, the fairways are very narrow.

9. Yardage / Distance markers are WRONG. Based on the markers and the yardage "book" I was averaging 300yds  driving distance on about 50% of the holes. I have never ever driven further than 250yds in the 4 years I have been playing golf. this was also the comments given by flight mates about the yardage / distance markers

They have been operating for alomost a year (Full 18 holes) and they still have a temporary locker room despite haveing a completed club house. Go figure.

The next few posts are PICS of the course.

I will never ever play there again.
