My 5w can go 220... my driver stuck at 180... Really duno the reason why... and it seems soooo ridiculous, but... happens all the time. hahahaha Bro, you sure you can do 220 m with your 5 wood off the deck? That is about the same distance as Tiger Woods' 5 wood when he last played in the Memorial tourney ... Moreover, the air in Memorial is much thinner than in tropical country like Sg and hence, can actually send the ball farther ...

| R flex suit you more... For me it no issue,yr driver can go 180m + 5w 220m=400m...as long u drive on fairway and u still can go for 3 on for par 5... | |

I agreed, in fact forget about the driver (it is not a must to have a driver in the bag anyway). Tee off and fairway using 5 W.. easily 2 on in most long par 4 too. 220 + 220 = 440 meters ( you kidding me ?) .. No problem at all

| I am surprised that you have no problems with R-flex with such distance. Golfers with such strong distances usually find R-flex too whippy... unless your swing tempo is damn chio | |

| This post reiterates our needs to differentiate between what we can hit on occasions and what we can hit comfortably on average. Whilst I can force a drive over 300m (with lucky bounce on sprinkler, then hit cart path then roll down all the way) , it does not mean that i can drive longer on average than the guys on tour.
If a golfer can average 220m on a 5 wood and hitting it where you want it, then i guess a driver is not really needed. Just look at TW at memorial... 3 and 5 wood nearly all the way (which he just averaged 250m on given the thin air and fast fairways) and still won.
Just my two cents... | |

| honestly .... what's happening is a true mystery to me ... Yes ... the 5w (regular jap) is whippy ... and my tempo is really lousy .... My swing is a really stupid tempo.... fast up... abit slower down, and it seems to all be in the arms. but there's a certain ... how can I put it ... like "whip smack" with the 5w that really feels very shiok.
I dont get the whip smack with the driver and steel irons .... I've also got a callaway razr 5w (regular flex, US) but ... the ball goes 180... same as my driver.
I'm thinking of changing to graphite irons because of this ... but for most ppl that see my swing and bulk(fat).... they've been telling me I need stiff shaft and steel irons... which causes me to lose distance ...

| I think I have seen your kind of swing on whippy clubs before. I have seen some golfers having a short backswing and then whipping through the ball. Some of these guys plays pretty consistent golf and yup distance is pretty good as well. If you are comfortable with your whipping swing, suggest you stick with it, get it consistent and see a club fitter | |
