| This is a reminder to everyone to drive their buggies carefully. A few of us witnessed a rather painful accident yesterday at OCC where a golfer fell off his buggy (the driver drove up a small curb which caused his passenger to be "thrown out"). The poor golfer fell very awkwardly and severely twisted his ankle. It happened no more than 10-15m in front of us. We rushed to see if we could help but they had already called the marshals. The golfer was in visible pain and was groaning. His foot was in a horrifyingly contorted position.
We later discovered that he had to be carried away by stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital. His ankle was dislodged and given the severity of the accident, he will likely need many months to recuperate and likely won't see a golf course for a good 6-12 months.
What seemed like a simple accident had terrible consequences. This also brings to mind the poor lady golfer who broke her teeth at the HSBC Women's Championship Volunteer game at TMCC and the buggy driver suffered a huge gash on his forehead after driving his buggy into a tree at OCC.
We often take these buggy rides for granted. They may be small but they can go fast and if you're not careful, you may end up in a nasty state. So, do drive carefully. For those who don't drive, do get seated safely. Don't pretend to be a hero and sit at the edge thinking that nothing's going to happen since the drive will only take a few seconds.
Don't take things for granted. It's really not worth it.

| TS, I would like add, park the buggy carefully too. I have also witness once where the driver claimed that he has put on the brakes but the buggy ended up sliding into the water and only the top of the buggy can be seen. | |

| Also be careful looking for lost balls some of the area on course also not safe, especially when got steep slopes and tree roots. Once almost topple over (i could not escape if it did). Lucky never and needed a Marshall to use his buggy to nudge my buggy back upright | |

Have not meet him/her. I used to golf with a friend who do that regularly some time back and was quite terrified when he is driving, especially round bends. Goodness! Cannot imagine if something like the above story happen.

| Confession:
I drove buggy into bunker before, lucky no one seated beside me that time.
Went up a slope and suddenly just "drop" .
Needless to say, golf didn't matter that day anymore.

| Not sure if this is true or false, a pro friend of mine told me about an accident that happen with his buddies many years ago. 2 buggies, one parked in front, the gentlemen came out to pickup clubs from the bag. Right behind a buggy came and slams on the gentlemen sandwich between 2 buggies, breaking both of his legs. The driver of the buggy, was the gentlemen's wife. | |

| @ZX, how about don't golf together with your wife?
I am one who is damn gia si when it comes to buggy. I won't even dare to drive down a steep slope and if have to, i will be pressing on the brake most of the time. A few incidents happened before but luckily no injury.
1. My buggy mate fell off the buggy and was rolling on the fairway. Not sure how it happened though.
2. I was driving along the buggy track when my buggy mate suddenly asked me to stop because he saw his ball. The buggy behind slammed onto u and it was quite a shock. The other buggy mate was thrown forward hitting his head and he was also thrown off the buggy. Slight injury.
3. There was another time when my buggy was stucked because the kerb was too high. Lesson learned and have been avoiding going over kerbs.
4. A lot of the buggy tyres are not in good condition and I have drifted 90* a few times. So drive slowly especially on wet days.
