Rude Course Marshaller at MGBC

Hi OP,

Had a similar incident at MBGC with one of the Chinese Marshal, quite young yaya-papaya-waiting-to-be-whacked-guai-lan face.

PM me if you are lodging a formal complaint. If it's the same guy I will lodge a second formal complaint to make a stronger case.

FYI to the rest, all other times are ok. Good experience at MBGC except for this one time.

There has been many complains about a certain course marshall at MBGC. I sincerely hope you guys would do something about it. I used to play at MBGC at least once a week, but after 2 very unpleastant encounters I had, I have decided to stop playing there. Hi guys, my empathy to fellow bros who got the same treatment as myself... I have sent the complain mail to their manager (Danny Tan) and to my surprise, there is only one James at MBGC and he is the golf supervisor! hah

Anyway, my intent here is to apprise fellow members and golfers of the poor service at MBGC... i guess that would probable be my last game at MBGC...

In the free world, there is always a option, if one dislike their service, don't patronize them further.

As far as I know he is the GM of Marina Bay GC and was also former GM of OCC. Maybe he has been stood down since his arrest but definitely was in charge there

For so many people to have common experiences, MBGC really have a problem. A group of colleagues (banking line), which included a low handicapper had played at MBGC in mid 2011. They got into a shouting match whereby the marshall (chinese guy) squared up and basically was within inches and shouting into the face of my colleague (guy, low handicapper). Understand they were close to exchanging blows. Post the game, friend wrote a lenghty complaint to the MGBC management but I understand response was mediore.

The issue is that there is a lack of discipline amongst the low level staff, the mid level doesnt care and the high levels are too far away from what is happening on the ground.

To get enough management attention to the problem, why not we call for a 2 month MBGC boycott from GR ? And someone with the connections leak it to STOMP to get some press coverage. This way, MGBC senior management will definitely take it seriously.

Dont know but I just feel that service is POOR at MBGC. Im sure there are good and bad staff within those employees but the fact remains clear that the overall service experience for a number of us has been simply atrocious.

It's interesting that he who has been convicted and jailed for cheating before still could hold the STTA chair, and after being charged againg for CBT, still can be GM for an NTUC-linked organisation...

Hopefully new GM will mean better things to come... I can understand that complaints in JB clubs will go on deaf ears but it is disappointing to know MBGCC is of such a low standards as well...

Sad to hear such unfortunate incident happening and happening again.

i had it once, and that's my last game in MBGC, and i never look back.

i have also significantly cut down going to their range also.

The article also doesnt mention the racial comments he made years earlier about Indians. Google that one.
I have had dealings with him when I worked at OCC and he was the GM. I have nothing good to say so I won't say anything. I think his history speaks for the type of person he is

He used to drive a van to work at mbgc... i guess that is company car...

His nephew is the PAP candidate for Hougang..

I've had very bad experiences with the marshalls there too. Dont understand whats wrong with the marshalls there. Even more anal than the golfers. After 9 hole, always ask to speed up play. Once, my flt completed the first 9 in < 2hrs and the marshall said "Pls speed up your play".. We were like wtf? "already so fast? how fast you want?". Then he say "Listen, Im just asking you to speed up play, I'm not saying you're slow"......

Sorry.. I only know Yaw Shin Leong... he is the only candidate for Hougang

-cheap course
-convenient place
-dont need any membership
-dont need minimum number of players (1 also can, but join other flights)
-dont even need to have good skills
-dont need 'connection' to play

take the good and the bad....i also cannot afford any of the other golf courses, have no membership, no time to play JB and dont want to play smaller cheaper "public" courses like Changi..so no choice.

Anyway played there many times, no issues, only marshal chase a bit..note they only chase when the flights behind are complaining.... I asked a few time why chase us when the flight in front is slowing the play, they say no choice cause the flight behind is complaining specifically on our flight. We have to complain specifically on the flight in front, then they will push the flight in front harder. Once they even ask us to skip a hole, cause the flight behind are nasty and threatening the Marshals about us.

Anyway if you are rude, they will be rude back.....if you threaten, they will so the same....if you want marshals to be obedient, pay more to play at other courses or even go JB (way better service, plus nice compliments from caddy like "wahhh so longgggggg" after a 180m drive..LOL)...we get what we pay for.
