| Don't know the context but from what I can tell, it seems like a bit of baiting is going on.

Below is what i wrote to both LTA & SMRT... "Dear Sir / Madam, I am writing to express my unhappiness with the bad behavior of a Singaporean taxi driver. This incident happened on the November 28, 2012, Wednesday 12pm onwards over at the taxi stand at Changi International Airport Terminal 1. This is what happened. My family and myself came back from a holiday and waiting patiently in the queue to board a taxi to get back home. We requested a bigger cab to house our luggage and my golf bag. The taxi coordinator was nice enough to inform me that there will be extra charges and I kindly told him that it was ok as we wanted to sit together as a family. We were directed to a Chrysler taxi, SHB1121Y. When the taxi driver saw us, he rudely gesture to the coordinator and myself that we cannot take his cab as my luggage will not fit. I told the taxi coordinator that it has been done before. The taxi coordinator requested the Chrysler taxi driver to try if it can fit in but we were abruptly told off it cannot be done again. I believed that the communication part from this taxi driver could be better instead of brushing off me or any passengers without even trying to see if the luggage and my golf bag can fit in. What happened next was really beyond my expectation from the SMRT taxi driver. It happened when the taxi coordinator mentioned that we can report the taxi driver to LTA or SMRT if we are not satisfied with his service. Apparently the taxi driver heard this and got agitated when I took a picture of his taxi number plate. The taxi driver than confronted me by raising his voice at me, telling me to go ahead to report him to LTA. I decided to move away but he just kept coming at me with his loud blabbering until I told him yes I will report him. He instigated for me to hit him but I did not. The taxi driver even scolded vulgarities in front of me with my wife and two 3 years old girls. I told my wife to bring the kids away. He even dared me to call police, which I did so by immediately notifying the Certis Police nearby. This outburst of unruly behavior reflects badly on the quality of service produced by Singapore Taxi drivers as there were many tourists in the queue. I felt ashamed of his behavior as well as his actions and his impact on my two 3 year old girls. Finally, he displayed lewd gestures to both my family and me. What made matters worse was my wife and two 3 years old twin girls were there when he showed his lewd gestures. Furthermore, he was walking around my wife and my two girls when I was inside talking to the Certis Cisco police. My wife had to shout at him to ask him to back off. Fortunately one of the Certis Cisco police was outside and came to my wife assistance. I cannot imagine what will happen if the Certis Cisco police was not there to help. I felt threatened by his actions and the safety of my family. Police was called in and took down our statements. Last but not the least, the two taxi coordinators and Certis Polices from Changi International Airport are witnesses to his bad behavior. I have the video taken from my mobile of the taxi driver’s lewd gestures. Please let me know your email so i can send it over to you as it is too big to attach in here. It has negatively impacted my wife emotionally when he circled my wife and my children and I felt threatened by his action. Please do look into this matter seriously and see that this taxi driver will not do such acts ever again. This is detrimental to both Singapore tourism and citizens' safety."

Just who to blame fr this? i have done that...almost a week without any solid responses...only the first reply that they will look into the matter from both. coincidental or not, i am not too sure, only when i posted up the video, than the following happened: 1) I emailed again to the LTA officer and furnished him the confirmed position and the site, with pictures attached, on the incident that took place. LTA officer called me up again and said he will be looking up into the case as priority. At least there is response and followup. But no conclusion yet. 2) after this on the same day which is yesterday, i recieved a SMRT email saying they have investigated and taking disciplinary action against the driver and an offered an apology. Will post the email from them later. Later bro, let me get into a meeting first...

| Hi
I do not condone his actions. However, since he pays the rent of his vehicle, he has to right to tell you your lugguage cant fit, and hence reject your business. Look at it this way, if his taxi is damaged bacause of your lugguage, are you willing to be responsible for it and pay for repairs? Since i believe you are not, he has the right to say no to you.
Much as i do not condone his actions, i do not agree with your actions as well. I think this whole ugly situation could have been prevented if you just be a little patient and wiat for another cab. Going over to take a photo of his license plate when the tension is so tense and then going over to complain, post on youtube and on to a golf forum will not make matters better.
thats just my point of view. We can all agree to disagree.
Nonetheless, i am sorry that you got into this situation

| I have to agree with Nientsu here.
If I'm faced with a taxi driver who's unwilling to ferry my family and luggage, I'd just dismiss it and wait for another taxi especially at the airport when the taxi flow is very smooth.
The last thing I'd want to do is to get into a taxi with the driver who's infuriated. I've had several unfortunate taxi rides where the driver is pissed off over something or other (not me). Typically, they're upset over other drivers, the 'gahmen' or the universe. Whichever the case, they end up being reckless and the whole ride becomes unpleasant.
I'd have passed on this taxi driver and counted my blessings that I realized his dissatisfaction ahead of time. There are many other taxis around - there's no point in giving business to someone who clearly doesn't want it.
Anyway, I do empathise with you. His conduct was unbecoming of a taxi driver. There's no point in wearing a shirt and pants when one's behaviour is poor. I hope SMRT takes action.
Why? Well, at the very least, because the driver had failed the cab rank rule.

| Dun take it the wrong way....but this is just getting out of hand. It could have been handled better especially with the bit on the phototaking.
I had an incident where a passenger from another car took a picture of my car after we had a situation on the road where I overtook them from the blind side before filtering out.
On top of taking a picture of my car, the filtered out as well and followed my car and from my rear view mirror I saw she was still holding up her camera.
It pissed me off and on the next light I slowed down and went behind them instead tailing them till they reached their office where I confronted what the hell was that for... and they said it was for STOMP and wanna show how bad and inconsiderate driver I was.
Seriously? is all this necessary..? Are we becoming a society where we just need to get everything justified and shamed in public with video evidence to support our claims.
Dude, u just came from a nice holiday with your family... end it nice and well too.....
I am sorry u met an asshole on the way... but what you did wasn't helping...

I can't condone threatening your family - that is wrong. However the driver may have felt threatened himself.

| I dislike most taxi drivers, like a few and hated a few more.
The taxi companies know all these problems but they are not doing anything about it. Everything is done reactively. You complain, they will maybe then look into the matter. Their main goal is to make as much $ as possible with the present system.
@ Calvin - Sorry to hear abt ur encounter. It always very unpleasant and troublesome. My opinion in this case is that the taxi driver is more at fault.
My opinion & for discussion sake of photo-taking- I would like to highlight 1 thing tt is getting very common, even popular among us - that is the taking of photographs.
In the past b4 taking a photo of anyone, it is only polite to seek permission if not it is consider rude. I don't think anyone wants to hv his photo taken for no apparent reason. Nowadays many ppl take photo as ëvidence"or for fun eg..quarrels in MRT, bus etcc.. Latest case was in NY abt the man who was abt to b run over by the train. People r getting more keen in getting the perfect"" shot than doing the more impt thing like saving his life.
Many ppl out there r still not agreeable to hv his photo taken by any stranger in the street. I am one of them. If u want to take a pic, u better give me a good reason.

| Guess everyone will have their views...
My take is very simple: 1) Scenario to ponder - if a customer is waiting in the queue, over at the taxi bay in changi airport taxi bay, wanted to go from T1 to T2, can the cab driver tell u "sorry, distance too short, take another cab"...First reaction from him, rude gesture without even trying....even i mentioned i have tried and can be fit into. Again was given the no gesture. Anyway, there are certain rules that the taxi drivers have to adhere to and this was told by the LTA officer to me.
2) Took the picture and walk away without any confrontation, but he came blabbering at me and my family
3) Didnt think of reporting, was toying the idea when i took the picture. Maybe he got provoke or otherwise. He can come at me but not my family
4) So decided to let him know since he kept mentioning to report him up, i will do so.
What happen next you guys can read in the email i have forwarded to both LTA and SMRT.
Easy said than done at that situation. Haiz, good holiday than have to kena this...
Anyway, hope if any of you ever are in this situation (hopefully not), stay calm if possible, and do the necessary, as in walk away or ignore or whatever u deem proper.
Note: i didnt put upload onto stomp but wanted very though..hahaha...

| Targeting issue not the person or the job status...dont let this prevent you from taking up if u r intending to... Not sure how r you going to stop ppl from taking pictures and uploading though... Moving on, LTA & SMRT looking into this...one bad apple doesnt mean the rest are...but sadly we tend to categorize/groupings - human behaviour maybe. - Happy Feet wrote:

| No worries, didnt take your message in any wrong way. ..and yes have to agree with you, asshole is he. I posted, and i expect different views on this and i respect it. I have chosen my actions and i have to accept whichever come my way I didnt stomp it. Submitted my case to the deemed authorities, waited almost a week, no concrete replies..again, not sure if it is coincidental or not, leave the disgression to you, posted up, and have responses from them... This is the email reply from SMRT: "Dear Calvin, We thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter and we are sorry to learn of your unpleasant experience which you had with our taxi hirer of SHB1121Y. We have investigated the matter and will be taking appropriate disciplinary action against the hirer concerned. Please be assured that your feedback is taken seriously and SMRT views good service as one of our top priorities. We have put in place guidelines to ensure that all drivers work towards service excellence. Necessary disciplinary actions will be taken against those who do not comply with our service standards. Once again, we apologise for the unpleasant experience and appreciate you highlighting the incident to us. Please accept our sincere apologies as we do our utmost to serve you better in future." - Begbie wrote:

I guess they were more apprehensive about posting it especially now that I know exactly where their office was. @calvinong - Im glad u are cool abt our views.. take it easy and like you said, it was a nice family holiday... so keep it that way.. dun let an asshole spoil it for u.. (Disclaimer: If you were not with your family and this shit happened to you, and after a long bad flight with terrible inflight meals and horrible stewardesses.... go for it bro.. all the way..stomp the m*&^&ker.... superb way to end a shitty day)
