Dun really blame them. We were taught in schools to memorise and follow instructions, not think. That's unfortunate. So the mgt should have a new instruction for the marshas: if flights are more than one hole apart and there is no back to back, then the marshal can relak and lim some teh. Ironically, the only time the marshals don't chase (in my experience) is when the course is jam packed and there is a backlog of flights cuz mbgc tries to squeeze way too many flights in. Haha Hardly play there anymore anyways...

Supposing the marshall is going through motion to ask us to speed up when there is no one in front or behind us but we are couple of minutes behind time. After arguing with the marshall, he demanded we skip a hole to catch up on the schedule. Do we have to accede to his demand? What will happen if we choose to ignore him?? My friend Kenna before. Apparently the marshal will bring you to the next hole and will wait for you until you follow his buggy. Maybe if you don't follow, I think they can even ban you...

| Thanks Mox... Is there no recourse here then? We do pay decent green fees to play there even though it is a public course.. | |

I think therein lies the problem. It is a public course and the marshals there are not scared of the public complaining since most dont even complain. That said, I should say that most of the marshals at mbgc are actually quite reasonable , there are just a few rotten eggs. The marshals in most clubs are really nice and polite as member's complaints are taken more seriously. And I think members of a club are more likely to complain because there is a certain expectation and feeling of entitlement to good service. I know I would. But people would tend to think that nothing will be done even if they complain at a public course.

| I played there almost weekly and never had any problem with the marshall...must be my luck. Now if only I'm that lucky in that game itself.. ah well.. but seriously, I think all the marshall knows my face there, so maybe it's another factor. another thing to consider, is that ppl have their moody days. And if you happens to be the target then that is really unfortunate. But unless this marshall is consistenly like that, then I think we have to give it a benefit of a doubt. I know I had my days when the smallest thing will result in a volcano eruptions. it's one of those days which I'm not proud of but do exist, so I will probably give it a benefit of a doubt. they are human after all, same like us. | |

| If u r in the service industry n ur mood affects how u treat ppl, u r definitely in the wrong line.
There is no excuse for bad service bad mood or not, it's accepting it thats how our little country is still stuck with 3rd world norms even with 1st class facilities.

| The marshals at MBGC can be quite a pain in pushing golfers on - "to keep time" - but so far I have not encountered any rude ones. In fact the Malay chap is quite friendly and at times even help us look for balls. However in this case, I would formally write in to complain about this "pain in the butt" marshal so that the MBGC cannot simply side with their people or sweep it under the carpet | |

| Well In my opinion, I think the problem lies with the fact that the culture here is that if your given the first flight of the day , your usually expected to be really fast players. And to get chased by a 3 ball of women... Maybe you should have just let them pass , obviously you were on time sheet but were pretty selfish to not let faster players pass you .. In this case .. 3 WOMEN | |

I mean, for goodness' sake, the time limit is there so that flights don't get slowed down by slow flights in front. I dont see what the problem is if the course is bloody empty.
Seriously, WTF man.
Ok rant over. Peace. So we know what to do when we next play at MBGC. If the ball is kinda lost, don't be a hero and try to go deep sea diving or jungle trekking. Take penalty and play. It sucks but public courses are like this. I'm making a mental note right now - penalties are ok... penalties are ok... penalties are ok...

| in the service industry, service quality affected by personal mood is definitely a No No...
marshal with bad service attitude should be complain, should i even encounter this, i would not hesitate to do so...
also, i also believe marshal with very good service quality should be compliment also...these people are out there under the sun & rain, performing his job to ensurea smooth flow of the game, i would say sometime it can be quite tough...thus we should also be aware to compliment those who provide good service...

| If u dun like that place then just dun go next time. There are a lot more clubs that are more than happy to earn your money... If I'm unhappy about the service of certain shops, I will just walk away even if the thing I want to buy is limited edition stuff, etc... I don't like the feeling of having to pay and get shit attitude | |

typical asian scared tua kee concept. and again, why am i not surprised. then again, there is a history of why caucasian people are more 'respected'.... this is another story for another thread. the ang mohs and kwai lohs i know here are all pretty cool. especially the kiwi who keeps complaining about late students on his twitter account. but most fairer-skinned people i know out there are far kers . i have more or less start to adopt a far k tua kee concept.

| I hope the GM of MBGC reads this forum. Or do anyone in this forum know him/her and help convey the public outcry over their marshal's high handed way of course marshaling. | |

But why let people pass when you are not slow in your game? Its kinda of like apologizing to make others feel better rather than admitting that you are actually wrong...

as long as there is no written complaint, nothing will be done. MBGC operates on a gahmen concept. and how our gahmen operate is by black-and-white and by formal channels.... look at all the complaints on stomp. was anything done?

| im just curious..
if someone talks to you aggressively, points index finger at you while talking and indicates that if not happy can complain him..
isnt this tantamount to a "threat"?
remember the Kranji incident?
supposedly the victim said "hit me if u r not happy la"
and he really kana whack!

| Hi everyone,
my apologies if my actions offend anyone. But I have suffered the same fate many times at MBGC that I cant hold it back any longer. I have posted this link on their FB page, and I really hope that they would do something about that marshal. I am very sure it is only one marshal that has been doing this. He is very arrogrant and had always threaten to give us red card, yelllow card and all kinds of card. Whether we are right or wrong, I think that he should still be polite in giving us a warning rather than scold or threaten us. I used to play there at least once a week. Now I hardly go there anymore.

| There was one time where i played at MBGC at about 1-ish and only finished at slightly under 7pm.
Flights a super slow. During the early holes, one marshall came by and tell us to speed up, cause its very slow. Ok, gentle reminder...fine. A few holes later at the tee box, after seeing us chatting away at the tee box waiting for the flight in front to hit the second shot, another marshall ask us to speed up. This time, one uncle in my flight told him to go ask the flight in front. The marshall just smiled and say,"tolong a bit la. You all just speed up a bit ok?" This happened every 1 - 2 holes. Everytime, you duff or send your ball out of the fairway, the marshall will hound you. Everytime you are at the tee box, they will politely remind you to speed up. Can get a lil irritating at times la.
After the game, I was talking to the guyt who is unloading my bag from the buggy. He said that today was slow because there was a flight of ministers' wives playing in front and they were holding everyone up. Gosh! Goes to show bureacracy extends all the way to the golf course.
