| I dont want....But my iphone 3gs is telling me to get it, cos its giving me problems:
1. Phone hang frequently
2. Batt dying
3. Occasionally for no rhyme or reason, reception lost.
4. Slow | |

| Back when iPhone 3G was launched, I bought it and was happy to be able pull up some news on my iphone to read when having morning coffee.
When iPhone 4 was launched, I sit down for coffee and open up news apps on my iPhone 3G. By the time I see the advert screen, I've already finished my coffee. Upgraded to iPhone 4 and was very happy with the almost instantaneous speed.
Fast forward 1 year.....
now I finish 1/3 cup of coffee when I open up straits times with my iphone 4.
Either Straits Times and CNA are using progressively complex programs, or my iphone is getting slower with each sw upgrade.
Can I go back to an older version sw?

Shanks! Eh bro, Did you leave too many programs running in the background? These programs will slow down IP4 speed a lot. Cheers!

| I have no confidence watsoever in Nokia smartphone. They good at making dumber phone I think the slow-ness of 3GS is because of the design of the current version of iOS. If you own old version of iPhone, try to not go too aggressively on updating iOS. Wait, read first online if the new iOS slow down your gadget. Surely the current iOS is taking a toll on your 3GS. Once the 4S is launched, I think it will get even worse for 3GS if you upgrade to iOS 5. But if you don't upgrade, very likely you won't be able to enjoy the newer offerings and apps. To me, the recent launch of Apple iPhone, the most interesting is not the hardware (altho the dual core processor, albeit you can't see it physically, is a good progress. Try comparing the running of iPad and iPad 2 and you know what I mean). Interesting bits are in the iCloud concept, I like the sound of it although it's also making you (probably) pay more. I also like the fact that, if I'm not mistaken, with iCloud, mobileme services are going to be free and the auto-syncing over-the-air of various apple devices. I have 5 between us in the family and it's damn annoying to keep those gadgets sync-ed for various applications and contents. Personally I think with the giants (ms n apple) going for cloud-computing I think it will be more and more commonly done so why not adopting it early..... One thing that I want to see, but haven't seen and don't think will see in 4S either, is a better battery life. I think though, it's not only apple's issue, any good smartphone drains battery like there's no tomorrow (actually, more even like there's no tonight as my SSGS2 also will leave only less than 20% by 4pm.... ) | |

| I'm a tech dummy... just bot my first smart phone slightly more than a month ago (Galaxy SII)...
Reason I decided to buy GSII and not Iphone 4 (or wait for Iphone 4S/ Iphone 5) is GSII has larger screen than Iphone 4, looks like running faster & weigh much lighter...
I wun buy the Iphone 4S sine GSII is serving me well... rather save the $$ to got more golf gear...

| I wouldnt upgrade. I already have an iPad 2 which is dual core for speed. Siri? Don't think I'll ever be talking to my phone. 5 mega pix is gd enough for taking random pics. Not as if there is some leica lens and the noise is probably worse with more pixels.
So effectively, there's nothing for me to upgrade for

| True on the smartphone draining batteries. My Blackberry needs juice every single night before I hit the bed.
Of course, one way to circumvent this problem is to get a separate battery pack like this: http://www.ifuzen.com/
Will be getting the iPhone 4S since my Blackberry isn't holding up to speed anymore. Especially when surfing net to read news is getting to be an extremely painful business on my Blackberry. No doubt it is a great text messaging tool, but if messaging is the only great thing on the Blackberry, it would have failed terribly as a Smartphone when it keeps hitting me with, "Page is too large to load, closing pages!" error messages.
Additionally, it will probably be the last iPhone launched during Steve Job's lifetime. It would make for good memory recollections.....

and how about those who have not had an iphone yet ? im using the 3GS... and i will Have to change once contract ends. I can finish 2 cups of coffee while waiting for it to load a page off the net. Now, the way it vibrates just sounds like a rattlesnake. Think its falling apart. Seems like the shelve life of these phones arent very long too.

| i'm using the 3GS model and my contract is gonna end this coming Dec.
Comparing 3GS and 4GS, although it's a 2 generation gap, personally i dun find the difference or the improvement attractive to me, but will i change, i guess i will still go ahead and get the 4GS.
reason is most of the thing works for me using the iphone and there is really no strong push factor that made me feel like changing to another brand, and look at the rest of the smartphone, there are also no strong 'pull' factor that could really attract me....so at the end, the safer path is to continue to use iphone...hopfully it's not too pricey....

| Am a user of 3GS and eagerly waiting for iPhone 5 - now 4gs. But 4gs looks like no much improvement to lust for..
Then new one seems Not much of a diff with ipone 4g but the voice activation would b a much anticipated function for . If easy to use, then it will be a notch up again against other smartphone. Actually, techie had commented that the release 4gs is a dissappointment.
Comparable android smartphones to consider is the samsung galaxy sll. A highly rated phone. Also, look out for the SE experia arc s and the coming HTC sensation xe which will have one of the fastest speed coupled with renowned Dr Beat earpiece (ha, this will be a very strong contender).. Oh... The batt is also going to be much bigger capacity than thee new iPhone..
I may wait to see the new HTC offering and it's Price against the new iPhone . New iPhone version also has a high price tag which I always feel not worth it unless u got good package with telco (Esp for those on high end plan)..

Either wait for 5 or change to android. S2 is kool....

Shanks! Double tap on your home button, you should see all the apps running in the background at the bottom of the screen. Press n hold on any of the app icon until they "move" (whatever you call that) n close them.
