| Last week I played at Mission Hills and Blue Canyon. First time played there. Back to back two days. My wife tired and gave up didnt complete play at Canyon. Complain and complain very tired. Usually played in Malaysia. Next time shall go with real kakis. I must say destination golf ain't cheap but worth the experience. Thinking of golfing in Laos or Bali next with buddies. Luckily got great deal package from local Singapore company that arranges Phuket anf Bali golfing. Cheaper than walk in rates. Transfer, buggy inclusive. If not, pocket could have bn screaming, wife complaining, fed up. But I shall still venture out for other exotic places to golf!!! | |

| Folks I'm heading to phuket (again) this coming week and will be playing at Red Mountain and Loch Palm this time
I'm staying at Anantara (Mai Khao region i believe) I will self drive. Any one can advice how much time i should set aside to get there? I will have GPS in car
also, anyone played these 2 courses recrntly? hows the condition? greens fast or slow? i read from other phuket threads that caddy tip should be Thb400~500 eh? for a 15 hcp player, is playing off blue tee advisable? or stick to white tee? thanks all!

| I reckon at least 30mins to 45mins incase you meet some slow traffic. Mai Khao is some distance away. | |

| tips is about thb500. if you have a good game you may wanna give slightly more. But i feel caddies at red mountain are getting a little complacent. and not all are good.
Personally i will tip more if the caddie helps me to read lines accurately and able to communicate properly as to where to land the ball. Greens should play about 10. The good caddie will ask you to go to the practice putting green beside the 1st tee to have a feel of the speed. Blue tees are fine for a 15.
my recommendation is to give yourself 40mins to 45mins. But u can b late for tee off as the system is not like our NSRCC
Played Loch Palm lately and i feel its one of the better courses. Will play there over blue canyon
Enjoy your trip and happy golfing

| Recommended caddie tips in Thailand is usually THB300. I was in Hua Hin last week and that's was what the club house (Black mountain) recommended. of course you can pay more if you are excited. I paid THB300 in Phuket earlier this year also, caddies didn't seem disappointed.
It's a good deal if you plan to play Loch Palm and Red Mountain, by staying in the Loch Palm resort itself, especially you have your own transport. We did just that. For dinner, we drove to east side of the island and have excellent, fresh seafood on those floating restaurants.

| Can consider booking through this. http://www.phuketgolfleisure.com/
It includes transport plus green fees. The driver is very accomodating, very good service and they thoroughly made my trip there more enjoyable.
In my last trip there, played red mountain. I will say that you the course is beautiful.

Hope weather is kind! Good choice to self drive. That's the best way to enjoy Phuket. If possible, try to have some meals and spa in Phuket Town. It is much cheaper.
