| Played Blue Canyon about 6 weeks ago on the Lakes course (The cheaper one of the two).
Stunning and challenging course, but well worth the 4,000THB fee or whatever it is.
Red Mountain is also a must play if you have the time, but steep green fee again. | |

| Red Mountain must try...........best of the best in Phuket. Mission Hill..........over-rated by the name but not worth it. | |

| Between Blue Canyon and Red Mountain, I'd rather go for the latter. Both are expensive, but facilities and conditions are so much better at Red Mountain. Blue Canyon is so run down it's unbelievable it still has the reputation it does. Red Mountain doesn't require length, but is oh so challenging. Cliff faces for the ball to bounce off and get lost, jungle just off the fairway and ravines that swallow up balls. Blue Canyon is nothing like when it hosted the Johnny Walker when Tiger Woods played. I played there not long after and it was still worth the price, not any more.
Like duffadder said, best value for money is Phuket Country Club. Not the best course conditions, greens can be a bit spotty, but thoroughly enjoyable. Look out for the par 5 where you can try to drive over a lake to get near the green (only for the long hitter). Mere mortals have to play clockwise around since the hole curves in a semi-circle with a lake filling the centre. and don't forget to stop by for some fried chicken at the 'Chicken Hole' push cart just after you cross the road and canal. 18 baht for a drumstick and 2 more baht gets you a ball of glutinous rice. Delicious!
Loch Palm is right next to Red Mountain, so you can play both in the same day. Can't recall if it's 27 or 36 holes. Both are related, but Loch Palm is way cheaper.
Laguna Phuket is an inland resort course with mature trees lining the fairways, it caters to the hotels in the Laguna compound like Bali's Nusa Dua has Bali Country Club. Also not cheap, nice clubouse, but course is nothing remarkable.
Misson Hills has classy facilities like Laguna Phuket, but the course is flat flat flat. Runs by the coast so you have some seaside holes. Nicely manicured but over rated for the price. Good course for beginners.
My choice of must play courses would be Red Mountain (money no object), Phuket Country Club (budget), and Loch Palm (mid-budget), in that order.
2nd tier would be Blue Canyon (expensively over rated), Laguna Phuket (moderately expensive), and Mission Hills (moderately expensive). Both the last two course were in much better conditions than Blue Canyon last time I was in Phuket. Better clubhouse facilities by miles as well.

| Played very recently at the Blue Canyon, horrible to say the least, will leave the final imagination for you. Wonder why it is still highly rated. Can't comment on the others though as didn't have the opportunity to play. | |
