With the exception of a blowup triple bogey on the 2nd hole (without any penalties, just bad short game and worse putting) and a double bogey on the 5th hole from blocking my drive right after trying to swing too hard and one shanked chip on the 9th (recovered for bogey), every swing felt in control. However, since we played from the white tee, taking shorter clubs into the green for the majority of shots made it much easier.
I sincerely hope that the improvement in my game lasts, but it definitely did not come by accident. I went to consult with a trained professional and realised that, over time, several bad habits had kicked in. My setup position had no resemblance to the position taught to me by my coach and that led to all sorts of other problems. Essentially, I was doing a huge "re-route" of the club coming down. I needed a backswing that was more "on-plane" and that involved setting up my body in a way that promoted such a backwing.
What was extremely interesting was that the 25 and 28 degree (5 and 6) hybrids with steel shafts that I normally rely on, turned out to be the clubs that did not feel right when used with the swing that I was essentially pin hunting when used with my irons. They seemed to be twisting and did not want to square up, resulting in shots that leaked right (about 10-15m) at the end. However, the one time I had to use a 6 iron, it flew true, and landed nicely on the green.
It is going to take more practice to ingrain the flatter swing, but the 6 iron is definitely going back into the bag, and I am going to start practicing with my 5 iron again.
That being said, I will probably need to check my setup (esp ball position and alignment) for my hybrids as there should not be a reason why a swing that works so sweetly with irons should not work with other clubs (appreciate comments here).
It has taken my nearly 2 years to learn how to hit my cb-501 6 iron properly, hopefully learning how to hit the 5 iron and any type of fairway would will take a shorter time. Thanks for sharing your progress in that interesting post. I have also noticed that in my case, the swing for the hybrid and its long iron equivalent are not the same. What works for one won't work for the other. Guess I'm not the only then.

| hmm.. never use hybrid for a long time so have no problem whatsoever.. wood, driver and iron swing are quite similar in my case. probably explain the sub optimal result | |

| Miura wedges, which is the lightest in weight? Recently the pair I sold, coz of the head weight which cause the swing weight to be much much heavier then my Vokey, so not used to it and affect my chipping so much..
Any recomendation? | |

Any recomendation? My miura cb 202 tat I bough came with the tour concept S3 and multi compound golf pride weight 46.6 grms making the swing weight to D4 . Thinking to switch to golf pride VDR 50 grms hoping to bring down the swing weight to D2 half or D2 . Was told too tat miura heads are heavier than normal .

| You can either use a heavier grip to adjust swing weight or just put lead tape at the grip side to lighten the swing weight. or use a counter weight. something like tour lock pro. | |

| can i ask how you all decide on which miura model you want to use? it seems to me that many of their models fall within the players' iron spectrum..as such, tough choice, spoiled by variety. is there something you guys look for?

As Derek said, just go to the a reseller. Pick a few model (tournament blade, baby blade, Cb 201, CB 301, CB 501 etc) with the same shaft, short list 1 or 2 that you like. Next step, grab all the shaft variant of those model in pair then compare them again and find the one you like. Lots of work, but if you are going to spend lots of money, better be sure. I think the reseller will also be able to advice you which modle is correct for you based on your swing characteristic etc. Good luck.

| based on looks: i like the baby blade! haha.. but doubt i can wield the longer irons well. for CBs, i can probably hit the others decently.. so yeah.. guess i'll go try them one by one again thanks! i hope to be able to post myself as a miura owner too =p | |

| I chose CB501 because of the design... and didn't want to struggle with the baby blades. @ wilier izoard- hows the True Temper Tour concept shafts? Can you please give a little feedback? I'm thinking of changing my KBS tour to these. Are they lighter? | |

| Sorry, just a thought aloud: Why would someone wanna get the cb301s as compared to the cb501s when 501 is recent technology? (apart from looks and price) because I have seen the specs, both have similar offsets, bounce and lofts.
Shot shaping abilities, is the 301 superior to the 501?
