Shot shaping abilities, is the 301 superior to the 501? Have not hit either of them, so can't comment on their difference. One thing I would say, Miura's products remain the same for quite a long time. This is in contrast to the bigger mass market brands who seem to come up with new models every 6 months or faster. Instead of doing that, and making previous models obsolete quickly, Miura comes up with 'limited editions' which are usually the same model but in a different material/finishing/color, and charge extra. And I am usually unable to resist. Thankfully for my wallet, they don't even do that too often. So, whatever you choose, you will be enjoying it thoroughly, without the annoyance of being obsoleted by the latest offering for a long long time to come yet.

| Just a short note to document how pleased I am with the putter. It is taking me to a whole new confidence level. While machine-like may be too strong a word to use, but certainly repeatability and touch are improving. End of self-congratulatory pat in the back. | |

| Subject: Eagle has landed... finally! Sun Mar 18, 2012 4:06 pm | |
| This thread has been quiet of late, so with pleasure, allow me to add a highlight which took place this morning. Apologies in advance for the large picture, it was the only one I had. Lucky Hole 13 with Miura 9 iron
Henceforth, this hole shall be my favourite hole at Impian Kajang, no. 13 turned out to be lucky instead of unlucky for me.... Par 4, Index 4, playing from blue tee. Usually I would take 3 wood, and quite often would land in the right bunker. Today, I took out driver instead, choked down, and aimed exactly where the arrow in the picture is pointing, at the fairway lamp post. Ball went straight, well past the right bunker, left side of the fairway, 105-110m left. Blue pin at the back of the green, so add another 5m or so. I chose an easy 9 iron. Aimed slightly right of the pin, 2nd tree to the right of the green side lamp post to cater for D-plane, and took the shot. The impact felt pure, Miura blade pure. Ball tracked the line I intended in the sky, baby draw at the pin. Heard my flight mate mutter "Wow.." so I knew it would be a short putt. "It went in," flight mate said nonchalantly. I thought he must be kidding, a friend of mine pulled my leg before, so I took my putter to the green anyway. True enough, my ball was no where to be found on the green. With pleasure, I picked it up from the cup. My first eagle. Especially happy with the fact it was an indexed hole. And of course, as usual, pushed the next tee shot on hole 14 par 5 OB (ball went straight instead drawing like I wanted.) Ended up double bogeying that hole, thanks to a nice 2nd shot from the Adams hybrid (so without the OB, would have been a nice par, darn it.) A bit juiced up after that, shot a 90, could have been better. Got caught in a bunker at hole 8, with fried egg sloping lie with ball above feet, took 3 to get out. Lesson learnt, I need another Miura 60 degree wedge, this time with a lot more bounce, for those fluffy sanded bunkers. Otherwise, reasonably ok round with one nice highlight. Average 1.833 putts (33 putts.) 4 pars and of course, that eagle. Called and told my (non-golfing) better half, who promptly thought I had killed a bird of prey with my golf ball.

@ wilier izoard- hows the True Temper Tour concept shafts? Can you please give a little feedback? I'm thinking of changing my KBS tour to these. Are they lighter?
Hi dstruct..I have pull out my tour concept shaft . Is a 116 grms s flex. Is a good shaft but too bad I couldn't handle the weight . I am using true temper GS95 S300 .

Shot shaping abilities, is the 301 superior to the 501? I tried both 301s and 501s at Laguna and the trackman pointed to better results on distance, spin, smash factor etc across the board when I was using the 301s. I was more consistent throughout on the 301s vis-a-vis the 501s so trusted the numbers and ponied up for a set (5i-PW). I was a little apprehensive at first as I thought, like you, the 501s should be better since its newer but it boils down to how you feel at address/swing when deciding between two equally good alternatives. Haven't looked back since and now a happy convert from a mizzie fan to being a miura one!

| Excellent, good to hear that more are discovering these clubs. They sort of sell themselves.
Got a friend who just last year switched from AP to a set of Yonex blades he got from a trip to Japan. A single capper going through a swing change, he has never been able to hit my blades properly for some reason. Recently he asked to hit my 5 iron, flushed the shots and before I knew it, he is sporting a 2nd set of irons, the LE baby blades.
Guess they grow on you as well.

| Hi Guys,
For past 2 years been using MP58, Tiltleist MB 710 and now Miura MB-5003. I need help understanding this so called 'Buttery Soft' concept of forged irons, because I can't seem to 'feel' it. Any help describing how it feels ?

| Perhaps instead of asking for a description, why not borrow a club with a cast iron head and compare the feel?
Point to note, if you are hitting it slightly thin, all the clubs you have mentioned above will actually feel pretty lousy and send vibrations up the shaft
To increase the chance of a good "sweet spot" hit, perhaps you can try teeing up on a low tee at the driving range and using your irons

Thanks for the tip Derek. I'll try teeing up higher at the range and using the irons. As for trying cast irons, I've used R7a and Cleveland Launchers cast iron before. They feel almost the same. I'm beginning to think all these 'soft & buttery' feeling are just hype. Then again, I could be striking these irons the wrong way.

| LOL ... you are right Panji ... that is quite cheem
Teeing up the ball gives you more margin for error if the sole intention is to experience what sweet spot contact with your irons feels like ... definitely not meant to be used as a training drill for proper iron striking
Whether you are a sweeper, striker or digger, we should always be trying to make ball first contact when the ball is not teed up ...

| Very exclusive set... interesting that the Hands of God finally officially allows a pro's name to be formally associated and stamped onto its irons... wonder if a few of these sets will reach the shores of this little red dot... would be worth quite a bit as a collectible... | |

| Probably targeted at diehard fans of KJ Choi, must be many in Korea..
"First Korean to earn PGA TOUR card. Grew up the son of a farmer/fisherman and as a teenage powerlifter earned the nickname "Tank" because he could squat 350 pounds although he weighed a mere 95 pounds. He didn't have the upper-body strength to pursue that sport, so he turned to golf, at age 16. " Ref: http://www.pgatour.com/golfers/024357/kj-choi/

Welcome back iluvcookies. You joined this forum because of this thread? Amazing. What a testament to the skills of the maker, Mr Katsuhiro Miura, that his creations draw such fans. Thank you for sharing that. It is not often, but every once in a while we do see someone letting go of their baby blades. And you might find an offer or two in the for sale section. (If you can hang on that long, without pulling the trigger for a new set, that is. ) In the baby blades, you have made an excellent choice - kudos.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I can tell you, it will be very hard to wait... I bought mine without hitting a single shot with it. What more someone who has actually tried it and felt the sweet spot? I admire your discipline. Enjoy the anticipation bro.
