OK, we are deviating from the topic.

Back to topic, I think the Miura I tried (301s) was nice!

But realistically, I'm more keen to work on my swing right now. No point spending $$$ on new gear while I'm still playing like a monkey.

I have always believed (even though I try to deny it) that a good golfer is judged from a good swing and can hit a good shot using the most plain of equipment. A golfer with a terrible/inconsistent swing can use the best equipment but will (sadly) produce rubbish results.
put the negative thoughts and mental barrier away, blade is your best teacher... stiff learning curve yet fulfilling...
train with blade till one can launch it well (no need to pure but just launch it...) then hit a cavity... definitely be surprised how much the swing have improved...

I am a happy beginner learning from blade...Smile

occasionally heng heng pure an iron shot, wah! sibei song ah!

It's not for everybody mate. Some people wants to enjoy the game and simply that. For them IMO it's best to get a forgiving club until there is a drive and commitment to get better.

playing blade is not as unforgiving as a lot of ppl make it out to be. (only for low handicap, pro etc), but it's definitely harder compared to a forgiving club.

I've had opportunities to hit some cavity after using miura for a while and I definitely shot longer and straighter consistently compared to the blade. I think I can play better game score with this club (which is what some people want), compared to my current set. But the whole purpose for me is as what it is for you, to basically improve the swing.

The swing comes and goes sometimes. Sometimes I hit it pure some times 100 ball gone and I'm still cursing and swearing.

yesterday was such a game. Stop gym for 2 weeks, do weight training during lunch and range at night. Muscle is not what it used to be, all shots contact and control are terrible. It looked ok for my training pals (beginner). Yes it flies, yes it was straight but I can feel that I'm hitting it top slightly or on the toe and it gives back that feedback. Gone was the soft contact feeling that is very addictive. And I think this is the key to playing blade. Maybe i"m a bit extreme on wanting to always feel that sensation of hitting it pure, but man those are great feeling.

Anyway, I've switched to Miura for maybe almost 5 months now. So have I improved myself ? In a way yes. Handicap has gone down slightly (not much just 1-2 points), and on occasion I have inched closer to my goal on breaking 80 which is nice. Hopefully I can realize this goal in 2012 for both my weight and my score.

Happy golfing. Swing

But I had the fortune of trying out the Miura CB-301 yesterday and damn, was it sweet!! I'm sure the shaft had a factor to play but it definitely felt pure and delicious Smile

I can understand why people would pay so much for such irons. Very very nice. Out of my budget but certainly, something worth aspiring to.

Suspect

Hey TS,

Best thing about cutomised clubs, u pay for what u need, so for example, if u get the following set:

Irons: 6, 7, 8, 9, P
Wedge: 50 or 52

Cost will be about $2k (slightly more or less depending on shaft choice)

Chances are that you will not change irons for at least 5 years (maybe even longer), so $2k over 5 years.

There are many people who have spent more than that buying off the shelf clubs that do not suit them and then spending money to modify.

Also, there is no longer any chance of being poisoned by new models of iron sets, so it will probably save you money.

Give yourself a treat, get a set, you won't regret it.

Beer

This is working out for me. Just not even looking at any other clubs, GD hot list or not, etc.

I have a feeling that you have just opened a pandora box...

This has been covered many times before, so here's a simple version.

If the GPS is 'forgiving' and one makes a wrong turn, and the GPS 'forgives' it, one won't get to the destination very fast.

While others may want a pleasant trip, going somewhere in general but not really specific, enjoying the view and the scenery, I want my GPS to beep as soon as I make a wrong turn, because I have a specific destination in mind.

At the end of the day, different objectives for different folks. But if one is seeking a good swing, a precise equipment with accurate feedback is an invaluable tool.

The feeling of seeing the ball in the sky, knowing, just absolutely knowing that it is tracking to the flag, is like nothing else.

So, many would share your sentiments here I'm sure.

Keep working on it as you have been doing, and I am certain it will come.

Today I changed something in my swing and just hit it terribly. Deceptively, the ball was flying to the target, but from the impact and feedback I just know I'm missing something. Turned out later according to my masseuse I had pulled a nerve on my upper left side and did not even know it, but the Miuras detected it first.

Now got to lay off the range for 1 day to heal in time for a Sat game. Bummer.

Begbie if its off consolation, aside of my chip, everything else is in ruin these days (left knee injury is bad).
ball is flying, but it's not the usual distance, nor impact.

you know I just notice it's not easy to hit tour striker club, probably worst compared to miura's blade Smile So its not so bad lah. the only different is tour striker is only used at the range while the Miura blade is always in use Very Happy

Sorry to hear of ur injury... My ball is flying too but the compression and impact not there... Maybe due to old bad habits.. with the old irons I didn't hv this prob... One way I look at it at least I know it now... But to change it is painful...

Hope ur knee gets better soon. Do take care

Rest and get well soon bro. I know it's hard to stay away from the gym and the clubs, but good idea give the knee a chance to recover fully.

I'm guilty as charged. hit 350 ball last night at the range against all better judgment and common sense. I've probably made it worst now, so no range / golf / gym for at least a week or two sigh.. (still not sure if I have the dicipline to do this).

those buttery impact is poison man.. once you have it you don't want to loose it ever.

Maybe anyone can recommend a good therapist for this type of injury in Singapore ?
