| Here's something on my experience on using the Ryoma D-1.
At address, the Ryoma looks like any traditionally shaped teardrop driver. In fact, it looked a little smaller, and the face appears a bit shallower. The high gloss black finish is very well done, plenty of attention to details. I hate the champagne gold at the bottom though. The all black V-spec is probably the better looker.
I hate the sound at contact too. You get a wimpy muted "thud". But there's a very good reason for this. On good shots, I can 'feel' the face compressing and wrapping around the ball and moving it off the tee, and on release, there's a slingshot effect as the rest of the club weight bring itself to bear launching the ball into the air.
What 'tickles' most is not the extra distance it gives, though that is exhilarating the first few times, but how the club helps the ball to go along the intended flight path. I'm hitting more fairways with longer distances instead of going OB.
And did I mention that the ball runs? I've hit bunkers at 200m and see my ball run out back into the fairway. There was once where my ball actually ran into the fairway bunker, cross it, and ran out over the far lip. That's how much the ball wants to run.
Pair the Ryoma with a low launch shaft and see the ball run. It'll take some serious rough to stop it.
P.S. I got my Ryoma directly from Japan. Full price + shipping + GST. Didn't know about kevlye bringing them in till recently.

| Women's laughter without any words usually mean..."I take it that you are joking. And if you are not, i too do not wat to say anything to embarass you. So you better take it that you are just joking.' | |

| When in doubt, always just take the most convenient answer. I say you buy that Ryoma, maybe i should buy together and we can get a discount | |

| I read this tip in golf digest by nick watney who suggested that if we want to hit further, imagine a baseball player trying to hit the ball into the right field.....this helps you visualize trying to hit with an in-to-out swing.....i don't know if i'm hitting it further, but i'm definitely hitting it straighter eliminating the weak fade/slice i had......i tried it with my irons on the range and it gave a nice little draw instead of the trap block draw my previous in-to-in swing produced.....and because of the swing path, i automatically finished my swing at the top rather than holding off at the top....the best part is that i can now hit my 6 iron...
need to see the results on the course but it was pretty sweet at the range.......
the only hiccup was that i was shanking my wedges....images of derek kept popping into my head....... | |

| Just when I thought that the quest was over, playing with Slinger, Chippy and Duffy very quickly extinguished any hopes that I'd found the elusive swing that would get me pat 200m...Both Slinger and Chippy were ripping it past my driver with their fairway woods, 3W and 4W, respectively......and Duffy who is still struggling with his swing was still hitting it past me off the tee........what to do? what to do? As I've said before, I don't understand golf technical mumbo jumbo, all this old v new ball flight laws just sound like greek to me (old wine in a new bottle anyone???)......but then I came across the image below in an article posted by sgdaniel and something clicked.......it might seem pretty basic but i never understood "not letting the clubhead past the hands" until i saw this: so the new plan is to focus on ensuring proper alignment during impace and not get too hung up on whether i'm doing a half-swing, full, swing, proper wrist cock, etc.......just one swing thought.......i just tried it at the range and once again, it seems to work......then again, it always seems to work at the range, doesn't it?.......i shall give a FR after my weekend game.......... | |
