Stricker is a great visual image to have. More of an arm swing!
A good drill to help shallow out the angle of attack is to hit some wedges off a tee. (Tee it up about the same as you would for a 3 wood) If you get too steep, impact will be too high on the face and will feel "clunky". It will encourage a shallower angle of attack, more of a sweeping motion.
Most amateurs would kill for the lag you have. Be good to see some "after" videos!

OK folks, for those who are half-believing what I am trying to say, here is a series of 45yd pitch shots on a par 3. (There was nobody behind us so managed to sneak some videos in).
Even with a half swing and such a short distance, you can see some zip on the balls on these Floridan greens:
1st 45yd pitch
2nd 45yd pitch
3rd 45yd pitch
Another way I used to play this is to accept the spin and hit it further behind: 45yd pitch extra zip.
BTW, its some sort of Patriot's Golf Day event of sort today before Labor Day tmr. That is why they have all the flagsticks with the US Flag on the golf course.
Here's to you KT!

Hi rex, wow not sure abt control but from yr clips, who dare to play with u? lolz
but from TV, some of those pro's at times spinned more then you but still see them play it during the tournament... so it might be that with certain kind of set-up, the spin can only be controlled up to a certain level (for certain type of shot?) so if the greens are too reactive n flag too far behind, you can only hit n check ?

Yes Jake. I was just highlighting the fact that even from 45yds, the ball has some action on it. I am having problems hitting those full AW 100yd shots where the spin back is doubled that of the 45yd extra zip shot shown. It is tough to get the ball close when its a full swing with one of the wedges.
I think RSC's tips is teaching me how to hit n check to minimise it.

not sure if it is any help to u... i consulted my pro... another way to control is via how much divot you are taking... his exact words.. "how much you hitting it down..."

Awesome clips. I always found it hard to believe that it could be done so effortlessly but you've showed me otherwise.

Er..thanks but if I was your mentor, we will both be blind.
I wanted to go back to the ladies tees to showcase a few 100yd full zip action shots but I didn't wanna jeopardise TSL's life!
There are some things I can do slightly better than the average golfer but I still need work on my game overall to be consistently trying to shoot under par.
You are better off asking JL to give you some coaching tips. I think she is wayyy better in her overall game than me.

Wah... S70B is good, but TSL is amazing!!! She's willing to video down those shots for S70B.
My wife would have killed me if I even suggested her to do such a thing. But can't really blame her; with my skill or lack-of, I'd probably send the ball straight to her..... 8)

Rex, I am not a pro and are trying very hard to break 100. I have been using a very shallow swing path with very little corking of the right wrist to produce those bump and run shot. I don't know whether it sound funny or not, this is what I do - For a 50 yards, I will move my club to 9 o'clock position then swing down with a very shallow (or shall i call it flat?) angle and finish my HAND at 3 o'clock. The key here is minimum right wrist corking and maintain the wrist angle thru out the swing.

Haha, thanks JC! My original post was on how to hit those full wedge shots >100 yds without having this spin back.
I dun have much problem with these 50 yarders as I just anticipate the spin and reaction of the ball. Instead of catering for the ball to run a little on landing, I just fly it to the flag or even past it.
I think RSC, MC and your posts all make sense: shallow the swing path and lessen the lag. I also took more club to try and hit a cut off release. This needs time to practice but I will be looking into having to master this shot as part of my arsenal.
For my game today, I didn't have time to practice the less lag shot. There was only once where I had a 115 yarder into the wind today. I took a 3/4 PW and tried to lessen the lag coming down. My divot is still a little deep though but the ball thankfully didn't spin as much.

another "slurp" video.. amazing skills there.
initially i was thinking that in such a scenario, where you can expect the behavior of the ball to zip the same all the time on those tifeagles, then a quick fix would be to compensate by catering for a further pin position and then have the ball come back.
however, on second thoughts, it would be challenging then to apply this fix across 18 holes because the distance for approach shots varies from wedges to mid to long irons and i doubt that long irons would produce the same amount of backspin when compared to a wedge, hence there wouldn't be a need to cater for added distance.
the other peculiar situation would be aiming for back-pins with a wedge on hand, if the ball spin cause such a drastic zip then the land point would have to be on the fringe instead, but landing on the fringe would downplay the ball's reaction.
in summary, no tips here for me, but advocacy for adding a new shot style to your already wide repertoire.
