- If bro gary lin really want to get 150 from 7i, then try the hands forward at setup, ball back and keep flat wrist on impact. Ball will draw, misses are overcooked draw (assuming swing on plane, no casting/over the top)
Best example ive seen of this technique is DGman, his 8i can reach 150, smooth tempo. Sign of really good smash factor. At least from my untrained eye what does flat wrist on impact mean?

| it means you maintain (or even reduce) the loft/position of the club face at impact the same as at address.
try it at slow mo, just to see how the club face reacts:
cupped your wrist at impact position (means back of left hand faces the sky), the head will open (loft increase or face to the right).
bow the wrist (back of left hand face the ground) then the head will close (loft decrease or face left)
easier said (or observed) than done...

Better to base your distance on average, if that is 130m-135m, so be it, dun have to keep forcing yourself to get that one time hit of 150m. Normally, my course distance is around 95% of my range distance. So just play the game with that thinking, forcing the shots will do you more bad than good. Since you have 13 other clubs less then putter, getting another club to 150m should not be an issue. was 150m carry.. now abt 120-130m carry.. i chose the same place to shoot from and aim at the same place.. will try out tips by some bros here.. thanks! Problem is my 6i also seem to be 120-130m now and i tend to hit a fade.. the only way i can hit a 150m shot now is with my hybrid/fairway wood.

Learn from my idol that need to coach, range practice to improve distance. So far no $$$ to go for lesson yet.

| I really think that if you can get the 7i to between 130-140m, that should be fine. I'd sacrifice some distance for better accuracy. | |

to be honest, i still struggling with my 6i...sigh !! I think "swing easy" always give a wrong perception, at least for me. Swing easy has always been a question for me. Cos if it means slowing down the swing speed, then I will not get the distance that is suppose to be achieve on the long iron. Long irons can be practise my shortening your back swing and like what you say on pt 4 and 5, maintain tempo and hitting the sweet spot. Without the proper impact on the ball, there is no way the ball will take off on a long iron. next time, try this... tell yourself its a 9 iron while you are hitting a 6 iron. Sometimes the problem likes in the mind rather than the swing.
