how far do you hit with your 7-iron?

what is the point of distance if the ball dont land on the green and stop within 1m...

in fact, land, roll 1m then back spin 1m to stop near the landing spot lagi best LOL

Not sure why TS (Tourstriker) was brought into discussion. After all we are all taking about how far an individual hit with 7i.....

Since my name was mentioned. Answer below.
1. Why did you buy it in the first place?
To improve my game by getting good impact. Reduce my fat, duff and thin shots.
2. Did you practice with it on a CONSISTENT BASIS?
Yes, every time i have the time and chance to go to range. Its always in the bag and very used.
3. If you did, did your distance improve? Did your overall ball striking improve?
Yes it did.
4. If you didn't, why did you stop practicing with it?
Havent been golfing, hence stop practising and stop using TS for awhile. I got to earn money and make a living 1st then golf later.

For a moment, I thought you meant me when you said TS. I assume you meant TourStriker instead.

I'm with Lee on this one. It is possible and I have experienced a big increase in distance without increasing my strength or flexibility. Its called using lag and compression. Also this results in delofting the club. I guarantee the guys who hit it short have decent speed but don't know what it feels like to compress a ball. Video your swing, get on trackman and check your path and angle of attack and launch angle. It would be safe to say you short hitters have a high launch and out to in swing. My son who is 12 can hit his 7 iron 135. He is not strong or fast but he knows how to lag it and compress the ball.

i think the point of contention is not 9i can hit 150m.....

but the fact that most of us miscontured as his 9i can hit 190-200m.... bit far-fetched leh

anyway my 7i is abt 145-150m, i for one is unfettered by distance....

Can a 9i carry 150m from a driving range bay that's say, perhaps, 5-storey high?

Guys, would like to crash in on this thread. At the driving range, my 7i plays to 145 to 155 thereabouts on carry. On the course two days ago, despite hitting it off at the yardage marker that clearly states 150m, my shots are flying way way way past the green. Its insane! Totally had no control over the distance whatsoever with my 7i. Any tips to share pls?

wind, slope, yardage marker wrong.

I think also because range balls don't fly as far as the balls we use on the golf course. Non-range balls tend to fly slightly further. Maybe about 15m? Not so sure.

Can someone verify this?

Then again, it also depends on which floor your driving bay is. I would think your range ball will travel further when you're on the higher floors.

Personally, I go to the second floor cos the height difference in can compensate for the decrease in distance of a range ball.

I was a flipper! Excessive spin with my irons caused the ball to balloon on me, despite trying the stiffest shafts. At the time I wasn't worried about improved contact nor increasing distance ... boy , was I missing out!!!

No! I used it for two sessions at the range.

4. If you didn't, why did you stop practicing with it?
Will answer together. Stopped using it cause thats how long it took this training aid to serve its purpose. What I gained:
- Crisper ball first contact
- Lower flight , more penetrating , and no ballooning
- More accuracy - length and width
- More distance ... basically one club more through the bag

Been recently working on some pitches, flop shots, bunker shots etc .. and have noticed the earlier release creeping back into my full swing. It was for moments like this I didn't sell my TS (not to be confused with TechnoS) ... and will be taking it to the range this weekend!

BTW there is something as "too much shaft lean" ... like they say ... too much of a good thing is bad !!! Thats life ...

keppel hole 6, 137m. we stood at the blue tee box. guy took his 9-iron. the rest of us quickly pointed our clubheads to the ground, for me pai seh to let ppl know that i'm using 7-iron. guy took a practice swing and then proceeded to pound the ball. the ball flew up high, probably 5-storey high and went towards pin. pin high! i thought siao liao, kena makan by guy again. the ball flew to the green, never drop, passed the green and then dropped into the back bunker, which is another 30m from the pin. master and i heave a sigh of relief as that's the deciding hole for our sixes. but we shudder from the thought that hulk (guy, can we call you hulk next time?) sent the ball to almost 170m with an easy swing.

Amazing. Should have some prize for that kind of achievement.. e.g. -1 off the scoresheet.

I recall our game at Ponderosa. Duval and I were playing with you. Slightly uphill Par 3 (17th hole). Off white, it was playing about 135m. Duval and I whipped out our 7i. You pulled out your PW.

Since then, it's a private joke between Duval and I. We call our 7i the 7W.
