7i.....my distance range fm 40m to 125m.....very much dependent on if i hit it correctly

depends lah.. head wind, back wind..
normal without wind is around 140m.

"Within how many feet of the pin do you hit your 7-iron" or "GIR% with 7-iron"

Wonder how much attention it would attract!!! Very Happy

My guess is, many would not even have sufficient data to enable them to answer accurately!

Hahah.. well to your first question, it's anywhere between 3 (happened when I hit it from 130 yards away) to 1000 feet (what I think will happen if I ever tee off a typical par 5 with 7i) for me...

Is there a default distance for 7 iron? Thot its supposed to hit any distance(s) depending on how you manufacture your shots......??

i would take hitting my 7iron 125m consistenly everytime vs hitting it in a range of varying distance between 1m-150m

full swing 120-150m...no use, either straight but overshoot or push or hook. frustrating when u hit a flush straight shot but it goes over the green.

Training for more accurate 120-130 easy repeatable shorten swing. In time sure it will be in the 140-150 range when the easy swing gets faster.

See the pros all never full swing with their mid-short irons.

Definitely, range balls are rock hard and do not compress as much. Playing balls can travel Fu
Rather usually up to 10-15% gains

that depends on the course you're playing. i always have probem controling spin and stopping ball in hard green, it's easier to do on soft green. It's also depends on other thing such as green slope, size, pin position etc.

Unless you're referring to the pin in driving range ? Very Happy

135m, but then an uncle at the range told me, nowadays the irons' loft are stronger, so my 7i is actually his 6i.

Some manufacturer play around with the loft on their club. Sometimes even same manufacturer and different product line has different loft.

Does it really matter how far the 7i goes? What's more important is that it goes straight and the distance is consistent.

Play your game, not the game which you see of others.

I actually don't care whether it goes straight, hook or fade. As long as it goes to where I wanted it to that is the main thing.. Smile

Does it matter if it's straight, far, short or whatever if it lands and stop within 5 feet of the correct pin?

There are just too many factors that will affect the distance.. It may be more worthwhile to focus on flushing the ball well and having the ball go where you intended for it to go .. once you can flush the ball, distance will sort itself out..
