sorry to stereotype like that but it had just prove to be so true to me that most casual japanese golfers take a long time to play golf.

they will hit their ball, walk to find their ball, "oh! so kah! ball-ru neh.", walk back to the buggy, looks at the clubs, decide what club to take, go back to the ball, 3 pratice swings, walk back to line the ball, walk back to address the ball, then hit the ball if they are not distracted. otherwise, they will repeat the last few steps again.

but the japanese guests i brought out today, although their tee shots suck, but they are sinking one putts and hit dead straight with their irons. one of the older guys who was always shortest off the tee, always land his ball pin high for his par putt.

but do u know how many times my heart dropped when i see my guest teeing up the ball high enough for a driver but take out my 3 wood instead? oh wait. i need to go and check for sky marks...

so so so so so so... did i do a duval?

So they borrowed your clubs?

it's like everything they do, they pay attention to details, the intricacies and the craftmanships. Just look at the website of forging houses or brands like ikasu, endo, epon etc, always emphasis on craftmanship, product take many times to forge bla bla bla...never mention their forging house can churn out 5,000 heads per day like the chinese factories do Laughing

Just look at origami or bonsai...everything so intricate. cannot do fast one.

and you almost did a Duval. Usually he would start with observation of other player's habits and close out either with a despair or a plan of what to do as an SB.
