| start closing the face more and if you eventually start pulling the ball (straight ball but moving to the left) = outside-in swing???

| RSC recently posted a video on swing path, clubface direction and target line, very informative. | |

One of my problem was in the first vidz in the initial address too. With my initial grip causing the angle of the shaft slanted too much(mine was slightly more) and compensating the address club face to be sq at address. The vid actually showed the guy on the left had a closed club face but mine was opposite. What i did was to do more of the guy on the right, getting a stronger grip and moving the grip alittle centre. Solved alittle bit of slicing. The other usual suspects for slicing, i am still trying to change but at least now the ball goes straighter. The setup and grip from what i read is the most important, if we do not get that correct, given that is the one thing that is static with least variables, the rest are even harder to change and we got to end up compensating somewhere else.

| I more or less only slice the ball when using my driver or 3 wood. The rest of the clubs all seems to draw a bit.
I tend to pull in my left arm on the release causing a out to in swing which might be causing the slice 80% of the time.
Maybe it is because im trying to swing too hard.
I have tried all kinds of methods to correct it with little help. Going as far as adressing the ball to the right during a diver tee off as a slice is almost certain.
It is seriously affecting my confidence during tee off with a driver.

| not sure is some1 can help, i have a weak left ankle (injured a few times) so i cannot keep my left foot in place (alway step open). The best i can achieve is stepping 45 degrees open IF i swing slower. Usually i will end up with my left foot facing the target. This move (a result of habit to protect my left ankle) cause my shoulders to turn open during the down swing and hit an outside - in swing. This coupled with a poor weight shift, over back swing will result in 20-30 degrees off line resulting in a huge slice.
Setting up with a close stance helps a bit but now lots of pull. Also how to accurately measure the close stance? Any ideas how to solve?

| Maybe simply because you try too hard... Try to quiet down your lower body... you need to trust your current loft and distance the club can bring you. Hitting harder dun give you much more... maybe 10 to 15m carry? You risk slicing it somemore... worth it? we slice PARTLY our body went forward faster then the club and catch up... And when the club catches up... its open face! Just contributing... | |

| If I swing too hard, I slice the ball a lot. Also, sometimes if it's humid, the grip will slip a bit. | |

| I found out that I will slice the ball if;
1) My grip is wrong and 2) I start my downswing before my back starts to turn.
So right now, I pay special attention to my grip and always start to turn my back before i start my downswing.

| Honestly, I don't know anymore.
Fixed my alignment, that solved it for 2 weeks. then back to slicing. Fixed my grip, that solved it for 3 weeks, then back to slicing.
I think its my release now..

I think its my release now.. I cannot help you in this too bro.. As you can see my name is Slicer .. However, I have been slicing so much that almost an expert on this issue ... Look at the path of your club face during ball impact !! that is all I can say, the rest you have to figure out yourself sorry

| happens to me too!! especially for driver! Now i don't dare to use any strength... Hitting driver seems to achieve same distance as hitting wood | |

| With an open club face (club face open to the target line at impact), one can actually hit a:
1) draw 2) push 3) fade 4) and of course, slice
The only shot that is not possible is a pull.
To hit a slice, one can hit it with a:
1) club face open to target line 2) club face square to target line 3) club face closed to target line (pull slice)
Club face alone does not determine the ball flight.
Swing path through impact is the other factor.
The above is assuming a clean contact with the ball (ball first contact.)
If the club head contacts grass first, it distorts the club face through impact, depending on the type of grass, club face angle, etc. That's a whole other topic. To be avoided In most cases (but not all, some shots call for it, esp if one plays like Phil M.)

It is seriously affecting my confidence during tee off with a driver. Use your body to square the ball instead of your hands ...
